AutoHotkey Script to use Mouse for Camera
#Script last updated on April, 14, 2017.
I've customized the mouse2joystick script that gunnercobra linked in the comments below. I've tried to make improvements and also add featues, like the ability to toggle walking. I've packaged a zip that contains input layouts with the script as well as a compiled version that no longer requires AutoHotkey to be installed.
##You still must install vJoy in order for this to work, however you no longer need to install AutoHotkey unless you download the non-compiled version.
#Initial Setup
- After you install vJoy you must run the vJoy Configuration and set it up so it has at least 17 Buttons, as you can see I set 32.
- Then in CEMU input settings choose the type of controller you want to use, I included layouts for both 'Pro' and 'GamePad'. I personally use the 'GamePad' option because it allows me to use Amiibos, and is sometimes required for motion controls anyway.
- After importing it should look like this, if you choose 'Pro' it should be the same, but there won't be a 'blow mic' button. Note the device is set to vJoy NOT Keyboard.
###If it doesn't look like this, you are going to have a problem, and you should troubleshoot at this step
#Script Setup
At this point the script should work with the default keys and options I had set. However I recommend you customize the keys and sensitivity settings to your personal preference. You open the script settings by right clicking on the controller icon in your system tray (Bottom Right) and choosing 'settings'
Press 'F1' to toggle activation when running. It should automatically move the mouse and capture it to control the camera, if CEMU isn't running you will probably get an error pop-up. This key can be changed under 'General->Hotkeys'
-
To change your movement keys open script settings, and set the Keys under 'KeyboardMovement->Keys', this is also where the toggle to walk key is set.
-
To change all other keys all you need to do is update the KeyList under 'Mouse2Joystick->Keys', I've included an excel Helper File that should make it easy to generate the keys. You can ignore the fact that it says movement and walk toggle are locked as that is no longer true. Just make sure you don't use whatever keys you have set up for movement as a button key.
-
Look at my layout and you'll see it that every key is assigned a button, and then if you look at my helper file you will see that it has the Button numbers and which Wii U key it is assigned to, you can then change the Keyboard Key column to what ever you want (Special keys, like mouse buttons, must in in valid format) you then take the generated KeyList from the middle and paste it into the script.
-
As of 04/14/2017 The angular deadzone under settings 'Mouse2Joystick->Axes' should be already set to zero, if not you may want to set it as it is much smoother.
#Downloads
Script and EXE is a zip that contains the script compiled, so it doesn't have the requirement of AutoHotkey anymore.
Script Alone is a zip that contains everything but the exe.
- If you are familiar with AutoHotkey this should be pretty straightforward, if not then hopefully I can assist. It should be as simple as downloading and installing AutoHotkey version 1.1.* (The Blue download bar is the latest 1.1.* version) and then when you double click the script file it should run.
BotW Weapon Change Script and EXE is the zip that has the Weapon Change on mouseWheel for BotW, including exe.
- Updated on 04/14/2017, scroll wheel weapon switching is much better now. Thank you u/gunnercobra!!
#Troubleshooting
##Mouse moves to the top left of screen causing problems
As of 04/14/2017 this fix has been implemented in the zip versions, posted in the Downloads section of this post. Please just re-download.
** Or still as an alternate work around disable the auto activate game option which will cause the program to use screen width and height instead of the game window.
##Mouse movements too erratic An extra note if you find making small accurate movements difficult:
I recommend that you play around with the sensitivity settings on the 'General->Setup' screen. What works for you will probably be different than I have set as the defaults in my downloads. It can also change depending on your mouse sensitivity in Windows, so it is really best to experiment.
The screen gives descriptions on how to adjust each and what they do, but I'll state a little here:
Sensitivity -> Higher numbers are less sensitive
[My Default is 30] - I recommend trying 40
Non Linear Sensitivity -> The closer the value is to 1 the more even the sensitivity, however I find that at 1 it isn't sensitive enough for small movements
[My Default is 0.45] - I recommend trying 0.65
#Extra Reminders
Changing your keys within CEMU isn't recommended as it is tedious and finicky. The script allows you to easily change which key is assigned to which vJoy button. Then the button assignment in CEMU doesn't matter at all as long as each key has something.
Make sure to test and experiment with different sensitivity settings
Note that the in-game camera settings affect the camera speed the most, so try changing there if camera speed is your only issue.
If you run CEMU as an admin, then you need to run the script as an admin as well.
