Mid to End game power
I'm in what is probably the late stages of the midgame, or the early stages of lategame in my PO2 playthrough, and I'd like some advice on power.
I started with lava, which scaled up to about 6k RF/tick between Stirlings and Ex Utils lava generators.
Then I moved to Ender IO Zombie generators. Eight of those gave me an order of magnitude more power, 64k / tick. That was plenty of power for my Mekanism machines.
Now, I'd like to poke around in some RF Tools dimensions. I created a couple, and they wanted like 400k / tick. No problem. I built a Big Reactor (11x11x11 external dimensions). That gives me about 600k RF / tick. So, I went exploring in those dimensions, and gathered up a bunch of cool dimlets. Firing up dimensions with any of the interesting fluids or materials is... expensive. 1.5 M RF/tick and more, which is a lot more than I'm producing.
So, what's my next power source? I could probably scale my Big Reactor up enough for a while, either by going to a bunch of turbines, or just a bigger reactor. But I'm guessing there's another power source out there that runs 1M+ or 10M+ RF/tick. What's my next step? Maybe the Mekanism fusion reactor or the DE generator?

Mekanism turbines are pretty cheap (cheaper than BR turbines actually) and even medium sized ones can give you 5-10M rf/t easily.
This tutorial helped me out a lot when I first set one up
Awesome! That sounds like my next power source. I'll probably get to work on it tonight.
Just be careful with the internal buffer. It's kinda bugged thanks to the extremely high power multipliers of the pack. Once it passes 2147483647 nothing but mekanism cables will be able to pull out energy. Some kind of automatic turnoff mechanism or maybe a ridiculously large external buffer is adviced
How are you generating enough steam to run a decent sized Mek turbine? I thought I could just convert my Big Reactor over to actively cooled, and pump the steam into the Industrial Turbine.
That works fine, as far as I can tell, except that the steam doesn't condense back into water in the industrial turbine, so it's not a closed system. No problem. I can just pump loads of water into the reactor, right? But how do I generate the vast amounts of water that calls for? I'd been using Infinite Water Sources (the magneticraft one) for my water needs, but I can only manage to get 250 mb/tick out of that. I need like 100 times that volume! I tried a Ender IO reservoir too, but that didn't seem much better. I haven't built a Mekanism reactor. Does that just generate steam without being fed water? Or would I have the same problem there too?
Some testing with a bedrockium drum full of water shows that a laminar fluiduct can handle the water volume if I can figure out how to generate enough of it.
Personally I'm using an array of MFR steam boilers, each with it's own magneticraft water source underneath. You can however attach a tank/tesseract/pipe to the turbine vents at the top to create a closed loop.
If I can close the coolant loop by pumping water from the vents, I think that will solve my problem. I'll give it a try.
How do these compare to big reactors turbines? How efficient are they?
They can handle LOTS of steam. I seem to be getting about 100k RF per bucket of steam, so with my reactor pumping out 25 B / tick of steam, I get 2.5MRF / tick from the turbine. I'm not sure how that compares to Big Reactor turbines yet, since I haven't built any in PO2.
The bug that u/krazy_kow mentioned about pulling the RF out once the internal capacity starts to fill up is annoying, though. I understand it's caused by the really high RF multiplier in the PO2 configs, so I understand why it's not going to be fixed.
