I was on the fence until I read this. Now I think the Democrats should filibuster.
I read this and I agree.
I unfortunately have a bad feeling that Gorsuch won't be the only Supreme Court nominee from trump/pence... but I agree that the senate currently would replace a liberal judge with a conservative judge (judge Ted Cruz? shudders)... it's kinda sad we're are at this point in partisanship though.
Would be nice to have all Democrats on board...
Would be nice if Bernie spent less time shitting on Democrats and more time actually doing useful things. But you can't get what you want, and I can't get what I want
What did Bernie have to do with what they fucking said at all? They mentioned getting all Dems to filibuster and your response was "RREEEE BERNIE GO HOME RRREEEE!!!!" Jesus fucking Christ.
Anti-Bernie party dividers are just as harmful and obnoxious as the JD crowd and more hypocritical to boot
I see this asshole pop up in this sub always to shit on Sanders no matter the fucking context. I don't like the JD crowd but at least the JD crowd doesn't claim to want unity in a thinly veiled attempt to get Sandinistas to bend the knee. Sandinistas are roughly half the party, screaming shun the non-believers is a good way to get primary candidates running simply to spite you and proceeding to lose the general. I don't fucking want that, and I'm sure most people on this sub don't want that, but if this shit keeps going on it will happen as a predictable fuck you from enraged Sandinistas who are seeing so much red they forget to see the forest in the trees.
You mean like introducing M4A?
I assume you mean Medicare for all by M4A. Let me ask you this: is he the first to do so? Was there a woman who maybe tried that in 1993? Perhaps a man who has been trying since 2003? Maybe even a president who tried in 2010 (which Bernie nearly torpedoed, btw.). Let me further ask you this: what is the value of him announcing a bill that he knows is DoA? If anything, I'm reminded of the republican efforts to repeal Obamacare for the past seven years...

That's quite a misleading statement. You make it sound like Obama actually tried passing single payer and was obstructed by Bernie. He criticized the ACA for not having a public option, but voted for it anyway.

Good litmus test for 2018 and 2020.
Deflecting from your original question
Well done.
Seriously, HR 676 is John Conyer's Bill, it is disingenuous to credit introducing this to Bernie.

Yep, putting himself out there to sell more books to fund his lakehouse. Remind me what exactly Bernie's doing that's useful?

Great article. It brought up points that I hadn't thought of before. Saved.
Any democrat who votes to confirm Gorsuch should be primaried over, doesn't matter where.
That decision should be made by the people of their respective states.
Woah there! Nuanced political opinions have no place in this sub. If a red-state Democrat votes for Gorsuch, he/she is doing it to save his/her seat and should be commended for it. If a red-state Democrat votes against Gorsuch, he/she is doing it to avoid getting primaried and should be commended for it.

How is that saving their seat? Trump voters won't vote for a dem anyway. It's a electoral mistake which alienates the base you need to turn out in 2018.
Yes they will? The Democratic party is strong in West Virginia. They vote for the Republican for president every election by a large margin, but elect mostly Democratic senators and haven't elected a Republican governor in 15 years. Their state's Democratic party should be an example to us all.

It's just an appeal to centrism. The theory is that there is no way, for example, a more progressive Dem than Manchin would beat out a Republican in a state like WV. However, I disagree that Trump voters wouldn't vote for a Dem. Many who went for Bernie in the primaries ended up voting for Trump because of his populist rhetoric; they seemed to align on issues like trade and infrastructure, even if superficially. Then there was the whole hysteria over Hillary's emails... After all, WV did elect a Democratic governor and senator while going for Trump.

Bingo. We need to energize more people on the left (Dems AND left-leaning independents) to go out and vote in 2018. Running the same "moderate" Dems who are happy to vote for the likes of Gorsuch, Pruitt, and Sessions is unlikely to do that. If the past election taught us anything, it's that our political climate is extremely polarized, and we can't afford to keep hedging our bets on the "moderate" candidates. There is a reason Bernie is, by far, the most popular politician in America, even in a poll by FOX News.
It's just an appeal to centrism.
Disagree. Trump voters don't want centrism. They want right wing extremism.
It's not a bluff. But they still need to do it.
It will come back to bite ol' Mitch in the neck.
