Amateur billiards / pool player looking to join an organized league - do this exist in Toronto?

As the title stated, i'm an amateur billiards player who would like to take my game to the next level! It would give me the opportunity to improve my game, meet new people, and it's just something fun to do.

Does an organized league such as this exist in Toronto? I currently live along Bloor on the west end. Everything I've come across looks pretty professional. I'm imagining something like the TSSC but for billiards.

There are two main leagues in Toronto serving your area...

CPA and TAP.

Neither of these leagues are "professional." They're both amateur-focused, although TAP typically involves more stringent rules for 8-ball, and a far more traditional version of 9-ball (CPA 9-ball actually counts points and does not account for a push out, which really sucks).

Also, feel free to lurk a little over in r/billiards, as there may be other options I'm not aware of (house leagues, or weekly tournaments, or whatever).

Thanks so much for the response! Does one have to pay to join either of those leagues? Is there a strict weekly-type of schedule, where they organize who your opponent is, and at what table? Or is it more of a casual meetup and play against each other?

There is an annual registration for CPA (I think it's $30 or so) and you do have to pay for each match you play in ($10). They take care of scheduling, handicapping, rules, tournaments, cash prizes and the rest.

If you manage to get on a good team, you're likely going to get a chance to play in Las Vegas against APA teams from throughout the US (and I think a few teams from Mexico, Canada, and Japan).

Don't know much about TAP fees, but feel free to contact the league director and inquire. They're always looking for new players.

Hmm, the CPA link you gave goes directly to the APA and if you try and register in Ontario the site seems to fall over.

The CPA Southern Ontario page might be a better option but that's from a quick google search

Oddly, that is also where CPA players' dues go, too.

CPA is a franchise of the APA, and their web presence is pretty lame. That is actually the portal that they've directed me to as a player, so...

Any details about the league online? Their website is currently under maintenance and I can't seem to find any information.
