BrandsellerTBL - NHL•

What a year for Brayden Point. Originally he was supposed to play in the minors for another season but forced his way onto the team and finished the year with 18G, 22A in 68 GP.

89
HoboWithABonerEDM - NHL•

Where does he slot in next year? Will he still be on the third?

13
ImSoulless•

Still be on the third? centered Palat and Kucherov for their playoff push. Although with Stamkos, Johnson, and Namestnikov who knows what is going to happen.

12
HoboWithABonerEDM - NHL•

Ah ok, I didn't watch any Tampa this year, I thought he was on the third all year.

5
mikeyvengeanceTBL - NHL•

Johnson probably gone next year.

3
DoctorBreakfastOTT - Bandwagon•

With Point's emergence, it's very possible Johnson gets traded for defense. And Namestnikov could get taken by Vegas if they decide to protect Killorn.

4
[deleted]•

I hope exactly this happens, love tyjo but him moving might be what we need to do to be a more solid team. Also Vegas take killer please the money and term are just both too much

4
ImSoulless•

I think Killorn has to be protected right? Johnson getting traded to fit Point is mentioned a lot, its unfortunate that they both excelled in the same spot. The reformation of the triplets kicked off the unexpected playoff push right? And Point filled in when tyjo was injured? Problem is neither of them are third line centers imo.

1
jstlWSH - Bandwagon•

I'm assuming his numbers are a bit inflated by his linemates, would you say he was good enough for that line?

1
ImSoulless•

I would say he definitely was good enough for the line. He developed a lot playing with those guys, but I'm not sure he can take the spot from Tyler Johnson. I would also say he has proven himself to be a top 6 forward on the team without any injuries

3

Yes

1

Loved watching him play in Moose Jaw

2

So our Center lineup so far is: Scheifele, Giroux and O'Reilly? Ohhh fuck ya bud

52
darthwispyQuebec Nordiques - NHLR•

MacKinnon and Duchene are going as well

34
PteryxCOL - NHL•

And Duchene can play center or RW, too.

13

Best put him at center with his high FO%

14
ShaneisonfireCOL - NHL•

Reunite O'Reilly-Duchene-Mackinnon line!

3
ZatherinEDM - NHL•

Can always put him on wing but just take the faceoffs for his line.

2

Duchene going for a 3rd straight gold medal at the worlds eh? I like it!

The world championship Team Canada is going to be better than our olympic team for once

Haha, damn didn't even think of that

The World Cup and the last Olympic team both had like 10 centres out of 12 forwards.

2

Yeah, I thought the world cup team was hilariously stacked like that. "Oh your kicking Crosby out of the dot? Thats ok Bergeron is pretty ok at face-offs

5

Makes sense. Good for Giroux as well as he was really getting back into form lately.

29

I selfishly want him to take the summer off.

23
brewcrew2_2PHI - NHL•

It's nice to know he's healthy enough to keep playing though.

4
its_the_lugeCanada - IIHF•

He was a beast 2 years ago for Team Canada at the worlds. That PP line with Crosby was sick.

7
burstapartPHI - NHL•

Wow I can't believe that was two years ago. What a great summer of Giroux/Crosby celly gifs

3
StephasaurusRexyDAL - NHL•

I'm hopeful that Benn and Seguin will do that. They need to get healthy for next season.

1
[deleted]•

Was he though? In his last 30 games he had just 8 even strength points and 0 in last 7 games of season.

3†
jjr1234PHI - NHL•

Watch his actual play from the beginning to the end of the season. He got a lot of his mobility back and was getting more shots on net, rather than high and wide. High and wide still happened, but less frequently. It was the same with Ghost, who coincidentally dealt with the same off season surgeries.

6
[deleted]•

I mean he's improved a bit but we are setting the bar very low for Giroux then. Ghost has actually looked exponentially quicker and better and his stats indicate that as well. Giroux just wasnt quite as bad.

1
jjr1234PHI - NHL•

Well for Ghost, especially after his comments today, it just sounds like he said fuck what the coaching staff thinks, I'm going to play my type of game. G is a very focused player (outside of games against the Caps) and as I watched him down the home stretch, he was able to control the puck in the zone better and crisp passing, which is the type of player that he is. For me, it was nice seeing the improvement and hopefully he can come back next year and show up. And stay healthy all off season

Fuck yea, lets get more stars

3
its_the_lugeCanada - IIHF•

I wonder if Bo would get a call. I don't think he's ever played wing?

2
kvothetheflameVAN - NHL•

Would be really cool but yea the centre depth for Canada is insane and don't see them forcing it to play him on the wing. Hopefully Stecher could get a shot though like Hutton did last year.

2
uncleben85TOR - NHL•

World Cup, Canada had 10/12 forwards natural centres.

Plus playing some limited hockey at LW could be quite an educational experience for Bo. Might be a good idea to adopt a role like that, in a place where he would be sheltered.

Either way though, I think Bo should go. Kid's turning out pretty good.

1
GTI-Mk6DAL - NHL•

Benn Seguin and Spezza would probably all be able to go. At least 3 Stars.

1
yosooVAN - NHL•

I meant NHL stars but yeah. Hope Doughty and Carter go.

1
[deleted]•

Would prefer Giroux to rest up more after saying multiple times this season his body wouldnt allow him to do the things he wanted during the year but cant blame him for wanting to play for his country.

3
its_the_lugeCanada - IIHF•

With no NHL participation in the Olympics, this year's worlds will be a little bit more interesting.

Who would be in net though? Are there any Canadians that still need a world championship to reach the triple gold club? On the top of my head I can think of Drew Doughty.

1
[deleted]•

Have to disagree the losses in playoffs came partly from having no centre depth due to injury in Stamkos clot and tyjo wrist. Point can produce and play just as well as tyjo to me based on what I saw. If we keep healthy a centre core of stammer, point, namestnikov and Boyle? Works just fine for me

I want a dman for him, and keep Drouin who is a stud with some major elite potential, he's 22 tyjo is like 26 he's as good as he will get.
