Achieving Autarky (Part 2)

Eurasia's first wave of protectionist economic reforms have taken quick hold, responding nicely to production numbers and taking large first steps towards achieving near complete economic autarky. When autarky is achieved, our enemies will no longer be able to affect us economically in our goals. With the gold standard set for 2040, this goal will come very soon.

The first wave of reforms saw the centralization of core industries under State Owned Enterprises, and this has resulted in a drop in investment, as was predicted. Massive funding into national automobile sectors and road building programs have also seen the rise in employment in those areas, as tens of thousands of new jobs are created for young Eurasians and wealth has come to many communities, largely decreasing animosity in poorer regions against the Federal Government. Finally, the State Duma passed a bill decreasing Provincial autonomy, legitimizing Moscow District's laws and regulations as universal throughout the Federation. This decreased Provincial autonomy also eliminated autonomous trade options, heightened monetary laws, and the centralizing of all Provincial police forces under the Federal Security Service (FSB). While these reforms were initially opposed by many, near all outcry against it has dropped significantly due to new work, better Governmental efficiency, and a decrease in national crime.

The Eurasian Federation has the potential for once again achieving a dominant role in Global Affairs, and is well on it's way to achieving this goal.

Developing Technological Sectors

A significant sector of which the Eurasian Federation lacks self-development is the technological sectors. It has been cheaper to import foreign technologies such as Japanese or German products, however the time has come to cut them off and develop our own. Products like pharmaceuticals, IT products, and renewable energies are some things the Eurasian Federation lacks domestic production in. Therefore the Science and Technology Sector will receive large funding this year and next, in what President Erasyl calls Europe's coming insignificance.

$8 Billion will be put into the Science and Technology sector this year. Pharmastandard, Eurasia's largest pharmaceutical manufacturer, produces more than 250 types of medical products, including drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, growth hormone deficiency, gastrointestinal, neurological, infectious diseases, metabolic diseases, cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The total production capacity allows us to produce more than 1.7 billion units per year. $3 Billion will put into Pharmastandard's production facilities, expansion will be key as we begin to drastically cut pharmaceutical imports from Europe and East Asia.

Sotex is a system pharmaceutical industrial complex, satisfying the needs of Eurasia in the most important medical products. Sotex company’s plant is located in Sergiev Posad (Moscow region), was originally designed and operated in accordance with GMP EU standards, and it’s one of the most sophisticated and innovative pharmaceutical enterprises in Eurasia. Sotex is a production business segment of the group of companies “Protek” – the largest Russian pharmaceutical holding to-date. Sotex will receive $5 Billion in funding for the expansion of their facilities and the ramping up of production and new designs of medical equipment Eurasia's hospitals will need when done importing foreign products.

More Protectionist Economic Policies

Eurasia has some of the most restrictive economic policies on earth, and we intend to strengthen them through extreme measures.

  • Foreign Investment

Foreign investment will be limited to low percentages for foreign corporations and individuals (prohibited in the case of China, Japan, America, Korea, and the European Union), foreign ownership of domestic firms will be prohibited, existing firms owned by foreign individuals or corporations now will be confiscated by the state.

  • Tariffs

Import tariffs will be decreased dramatically for 2039, and increased dramatically in 2040, where they will stay. Export tariffs will remain consistent.

  • Import Quotas

Import licenses will be administered to industries in need of large imports, however strict limits will be enforced.

  • Direct Subsidies

Direct subsidies for failing independent businesses will not be offered in every case, however Government buyouts will happen regularly which then will place the company under Federal administration.
