Gemini New Moon - April 26, 2017

Lovers are fighting a duality inside me,
Where my heart has been
at odds with where it will go.
The universe covers me in kisses,
no amount of shame or fabric can hide,
how loveable I am made a public display.
The blush of love tinges my cheeks,
fresh dew sparkles in my eyes.
I rub my skin naked,
cautious not to let it seep too deep.
My angels surround me with light,
I am alone in a crowd but entirely too visible,
at any moment, two wings will sweep me away,
and I‘ll be gone for good,
so people must act fast
they must run up and approach me,
follow me around every corner,
look me deep in my eyes
reminding me of things I already know.

stretching my limbs after hibernation
I move slow,
hesitant,
I can‘t let spring swallow me in time moving forward.
We can only slow down destiny,
or avoid it altogether,
but never can we move backward.
So why do I attempt to bury my feet in the sand,
Why do I desperately grab onto anything heavy enough
to add weight to my shoulders.
As if burying myself will bury time altogether.
We can‘t move forward, if forward leaves without us, can we?

I'm a newbie to poetry too. I think maybe the spacing is throwing me off and I'm having a hard time following. I'm not sure that I'm grasping the concept, or following the flow. As I said, I am very new and can only to speak to my interpretation. I could be so very off...Maybe some context would help me...

This reads like two poems mashed together, tbh. It's not a bad draft, but I think there's a lot of room for cutting/improvement. My suggestions toward same, for what help they may be, are below:

1:
Love is an internal, conflicted, duality -
where my heart has been
and where it will go.

The universe covers me in kisses,
no amount of shame or fabric can hide -
how loveable I am made a public display.
I rub my skin naked-raw,
cautious not to let them seep too deep.

2:
I move slowly,
hesitantly -
s t r e t c h i n g
my limbs
after hibernation.

I can‘t let Spring swallow me.
