Death lurks around every corner
Raise the defenses, consequences be damned (and they will be)

The virus most feared, forms in the mind
infecting my charges, molding their thoughts

I did not know my vow to protect from enemies, invisible or present included myself

Accepting no danger, nurtures onl

Hello, sage stranger
Lend me your ear
Sit back now and hear

Rub raw each healing layer
Old hat, new head
You sir, are not my friend

Pull back the hammer
Keep pressure that trigger
Just watch my soul stagger

I purge the dark
Wounded and desperate
Images assault me, please just stop it!

My guided torture
Voluntary scheduled punishment
Repetitious lessons ferment

The predictability fades
Our standing date
The fervor abates

Today, sage sir
My tale is not tragic
When did this happen, all of this magic?

From months into years

The hummingbird inside my chest
Rats in the maze, my mind cannot rest

Electric eels slice through my veins
Shock down my arm; was that pain?

Is THIS time the end? Goodbye to family and friends?

The creatures invade every inch of my being
Hurting me and mine, this is not living

As I chill and sweat, off to the vet

With wires and needles the infestation released
Frozen inside until the next feast

Sympathy and pity assuage my fears
Alone and the fool, rain down the tears
