The Piano Room
#The Piano Room
A bent-spine bouquet of wilting tulips
blooms above the piano, where
petals fall like notes of lilting music.
An upside-down dead spider
sleeps under the shadows there—
a bent spine (bouquet of wilting tulips).
Life is a cobwebby, tenuous fighter
carrying souls like a sedan chair.
Petals: fall-like notes of lilting music.
Old-rot smell, like sweet cider,
proclaims the original player
absent. Pine, bouquet of wilting tulips.
Stiff arachnid corpse is lighter
than a single string. Bare
petals fault, like nodes of wilting tulips.
Yellowed pages curl tighter,
angry lesson books in disrepair.
Bent spine-bouquets oft wilt: ink tulips’
petals fall like notes—soft ill-tinged music.
Kind of a modified villanelle
