Gift from work. What can I do with these?
I received two Cisco 800 series thingies i.e. 2 887VA things and an Anatel switch. Are these actually any use to me at home?

Which, the switch or the routers? I've already got a 6 LAN slot wireless router came with my Virgin Media installation. Working with 4 people over a small flat. Maybe some media centre stuff?

Depending on the model of the routers...
If the switch is unmanaged, use the routers for additional ports. Port management is a great resource for troubleshooting errors on the network. Put all the router ports in the same VLAN, and have fun playing.

The routers aren't that useful unless you have VDSL service. They are pretty slow by today's standards. The switch depends on the specific model.
