These Lines

My Friday night
Is dew under me,
Darkness around me.
The cruel wind blows,
Cuts ribbons in my skin
Like how your breath once
Caressed me.

The dew must have
Seeped through my skin,
Travelled up my veins,
And welled in my eyes.
For now it carves lines
Down my face.
You knew these lines so well.

Clouds break and
The moon is forced out.
Its light shines down.
I turn towards it and it
Warms my ribboned skin,
Dries my wet cheeks.
We see the same one.
Feel the same one.
That’s something, I guess.

My Friday night
Is over, now.
I wonder how yours went.

I like a lot of the imagery in this poem. Particularly the second stanza - the idea of the dew travelling through you and becoming tears is very interesting. The poem flows pretty nicely and I can feel the emotion of it all the way through.

I feel as though the first couple stanzas contain really good imagery that feels like its leading to something bigger, but the moon image doesn't quite fulfill that expectation (though I do like the addition of "That's something, I guess"). I'm also not entirely sure what is meant by the wind cutting ribbons in your skin, but I think if you clarified this in some way it could be a nice image.

Overall, I really enjoy the authentic and emotional feel of this poem, and I find some of the images to be powerful.

I love the 'dew' imagery, but the ribbon imagery doesn't quite work for me. I know you're trying to convey the cold night next to the pain, you can either make something more visceral, maybe unnerving to replace ribbon, or try something inkeeping with the natural imagery becoming part of the body.

I really loved the flow. I liked the way how the first stanza set the whole scenario of being lonely with darkness enclosing the mind. (as far as I have perceived the poem).

The second stanza's symbolization of tears and pain with reference to dew is quite unique.

In the third stanza, the symbol of letting yourself out from darkness in reference to the light gives justice to the whole scenario. For me, it's the hope that makes oneself powerful to break out of darkness.

Overall, the plot is quite good.

The third stanza here is definitely my favorite part; how the narrator still sees something positive through their pain. I have this feeling like there could be another stanza before the third as a transition, but maybe you were looking for that abruptness. Thanks for sharing.

I love all of this. One tiny bit of suggestion would be to merge lines 1 and 2 in the final stanza and eliminate the comma before "now." It will make the pause after the word more impactful and bring home the question in the final line.

I like that suggestion, thank you! I will experiment with the last stanza.

I really enjoyed the imagery in your poem. I related to your poem on an emotional level. I like the imagery of the dew soaking up through your skin to your eyes. I liked the last stanza a lot and related to the last thought "I wonder how yours went."
