Surrender

They took my voice,
And pushed me under the spotlight.
Told me to sing,
To get devoured by my stage fright.
If only I can utter this word,
If only I can make sense
But my speech is all slurred
And all my hopes are in past tense.

They tied my hands,
And threw me into the sea.
Told me to swim,
Until open water is all I see.
If only I can free my hands,
Then maybe I could swim ashore.
Let my feet rejoice the sands,
Since they have been longing for a floor. 

They've plucked my wings,
And pushed me off the brim.
Told me to fly,
To be torn limb from limb.
With no objections,
Now who am I to say no?
Since I've lost all directions,
And I don't know which way to go.
