[Review Video] Episode 5 of my fake how-to blog: comedy, surreal. (Sexual Themes) but very mild.

Review Video

My video:

Phil Mann's Full Mind: How Does Binary Work In Computers and Stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaqC_jzKNl8

self review:

This was my first video with a two-camera set up, my aim in this one was to maintain a fluidity through-out the video and make it feel pacy and quick all the way to the end. I'd be interested to hear what you thought the slowest parts were.

A lot of the jokes in this series I'm writing are surreal, out-ward facing and impersonal, and I think I'd like to focus perhaps a little bit more on some character stuff, so I can turn the jokes to be more about the person or character that's talking and less about "imagine this weird thing."

I think this one lacks a lot of punchlines that the previous ones have, although I think the Wikipedia thing is quite funny. I'd be interested to know if the opening gag about binary not existing is easy enough to follow or does it need some rewriting? I feel it could be a sentence shorter, maybe I over-complicated it.

I think the calculator "Boobs" joke is a little too subtle. I would do it differently in stand-up, and I'm starting to worry a little bit that the tone of a how-to video is affecting the content of the jokes. I think I'd like to find a way where I can break out of the slightly avuncular helpful-style voice.

I'd love to improve sound quality, but I don't think that'll happen unless I can buy a new mic.
