"In 2018, Royal Dutch Shell acquired Yuzivska Gas Field under the directive of the Ukrainian government. After reviewing the economic role that Royal Dutch Shell has had in Eastern Ukraine, the Supreme State Council and the Council of Ministers has directed Naftogaz to acquire the Yuzivska Gas Field from Royal Dutch Shell to put the Yuzivska Gas Field under the operation of domestic corporations within the Union. Royal Dutch Shell was sold Yuzivska Gas Field to assist the Ukrainian government in developing the necessary technologies required for the extraction of natural gas in the field, yet with Gazprom, Rosneft, and other large oil corporations active within the Union - this is no longer necessary. Naftogaz is willing to grant a large sum of money to Royal Dutch Shell in order to put the Yuzivska Gas Field under the operation of UkrGasVydobuvannya, which the Royal Dutch Shell can request based on the believed value of operations in the field."
