Epic of Remnant II: The Woman of Agartha - Section 5 Summary
Section 5: Aiming for Ys
As you head towards your destination, Astolfo marvels at how this land is full of greenery despite being underground. He thought that an underground world would be really, really dark and full of molten lava. Speaking of darkness, Da Vinci asks if there is day and night in this place. Rider confirms that there is - it seems that the light mosses in the ceiling vary in brightness according to the time. The cycle is about 24 hours, the same as it is above ground.
Da Vinci remarks that the entire environment seems remarkably conditioned towards humans. Then, she asks another question. Right now you are headed to the camp that was set up in order to invade the Water Capital. Why did the Resistance pick Ys as their first target?
Rider explains that it is a matter of geography. All of the rivers criss-crossing this land flow towards the giant lake in the east, where the Water Capital is located. In other words, by sailing into the rivers from the lake, it is possible to reach just about anywhere in Agartha. However, the pirates of Ys have been plundering boats moving along the rivers. It would be better to crush them as soon as possible.
Anyone who controls the Water Capital and its boats would have de facto dominion over the river and an advantage in mobility. Fergus finds the reasoning for choosing Ys as the first target convincing.
Rider: Yeah, should we succeed, it would be a considerable step forward. Our fighting strength is still far off compared to the three countries, but we must not give up. Giving up is the enemy of all. That is why, step by step, we will advance. Just like this.
Anyway, you've reached the camp... and it's under attack by female pirates. They taunt the men to run, but the resistance fighters shout that they are not going to lose here and become slaves again. One of the men rush the pirates and gets cut down.
Female Pirate C: Arara~ whether you ran or not, you'd just have become slaves again... dumbass. Getting violent with us means that you can't even be a slave. Aaah, and this fella was packing such a nice thing too, what a shame.
Well, there are still more men where that came from, so she's not too fussed.Rider is angry at the death of his comrades, and you immediately give the order to assist the resistance members. As your party runs into battle, the female pirates mock the indiscernible gender of Astolfo and d'Eon, wondering if they are male or female.
Female Pirate B: If you're women, we'll kill you, if you're men--- ah, my crotch is tingling in excitement! We'll have so much fun! I just love watching such cute boys contorting their faces!
Astolfo: Ah, I seem to be remembering something. Something similar seems to have happened when I was summoned somewhere else... yeah, yeah. Alright!. Let's... not remember that!
D'Eon declares that they are neither man nor woman, and that the result the pirates expect will never come to pass.
Female Pirate A: Be it pleasure or life or screams or seed, use it all up! The early bird gets the worm, if you're slow you can't plunder anything at all! Now, girls, violate if you want, kill if you want! Everything is permitted! Take what you desire with your own hands! This is the rule that holds us! These are the wonderful teachings of our pirate princess, the ruler of Ys!
The female pirates rush in to the attack. Rider is not happy at all over his comrades' dignity being robbed, and is prepared to pay them back in turn.
After you defeat the pirates, the camp is left in a mess. Rider notes that they had attacked from a hitherto unknown waterway - he and his men had been too lax in scouting their surroundings. Still, the operation must continue. The survivors of the camp will take on clean up duty, while you continue on to Ys. Rider says that it is at least good a number of the enemy forces were defeated here, reducing the density of the pirates you might have to deal with.
D'Eon says that if it's about infiltrating the city, then their knowledge and experience may be useful once you reach there. Meanwhile, Fergus remembers that the pirates spoke of their leader as a pirate princess.
If it's pirates, then naturally, you think of Drake. Mashu agrees, though she also finds it unthinkable for Drake to be leading such a bunch of female pirates. Well, it's something to speculate about, but you are better off seeing the truth for yourself in Ys.
Fergus wonders if it's because of his immaturity that he cannot picture a country ruled by female pirates in his mind.
Fergus: But I cannot turn my eyes away from this. I have no choice but observe the internal circumstances of this country. When I am king one day, it will be beneficial to know the ways of various nations. This is also my daily training.
Da Vinci is about to chime in with information about the adult Fergus and his kingdom, but Mashu stops her, not wanting young Fergus's bright-eyed enthusiasm to be dampened.
Mashu: Ahem. Um, if you move forward seriously and keep an upstanding attitude, I think it'll be alright, Fergus-san.
Astolfo: Is that alright? It seems impossible. It's okay to say things like "With all these female pirates around, it seems like a fine, uninhibited place to enter and depart port in bed! It's fantastic!" you know?
Fergus: I-I'm not going to say that, okay!? What does it even mean to to enter and depart port in bed!?
