Netflix and youtube integration in apps.

Hi,

A friend of mine and I are working on a game for fun. In the game at the loading screen, the game asks for the player to log into Netflix. The game it self is played by picking up crates and smashing them. When the crate breaks, a screen falls out that is playing a direct link to Netflix movies and shows.

My question is, if we were to release this game for free, would we get a cease and desist or sued by Netflix?

My info might be a bit rusty and out of date but I used to work on a team that was developing a Netflix client for a mobile phone platform (coughrhymeswithCrapSherry*) and admittedly I was only arms length. But: authorized Netflix clients require a unique client identifer. Getting a "developer" key / ID is easy enough but like Facebook etc. before you publish your finished app it needs to be cleared by Netflix to make sure you don't abuse their service, do the right thing (like enforce Netflix logins, subscriptions, the like) and generally adhere to their various guidelines. I feel like if you're tying into Netflix's service with your pseudo game front-end you're going to need to go through all that stuff. Otherwise, if you fail to do so and your "Netflix client" with its embedded key/ID can and will be easily blocked by Netflix. You might get away with signing up for another developer ID/key for a while, but it will just repeat / rinse, back to the same spot.
