[UPDATE] Remember the 100+ guest addition thanks to my future mother-in-law? Here is what happened.

If you didn't already, view my original post here.

I will keep this short and sweet, but I know that a few of you were interested in an update!

Starting where we left off, I called my fiancé on his way home from work and told him to deal with his mother. He called her, and a long, LONG list of text messages followed the conversation. Basically, her logic was that we would "get more gifts" if she invited more people – even though we have no idea who these people are!!

My issue with this mindset is that my fiancé and I are not the type of people that expect gifts just because we are getting married, especially from strangers. We live in a tiny apartment in Dallas at the moment, and we wouldn't have room for all of this stuff anyways! We would never send people an invite to the wedding with the expectation of a gift in return. Especially since these strangers would not attend/they WOULD NOT be invited.

We told her that we would not be extending invitations to those guests, and she can do what she will with that information.

I do plan on sending her a "thanks for the thought, but we don't need that" text, eventually, but I still need some time to cool off!

TL;DR - FMIL thought we would like gifts from 100+ strangers just because we are tying the knot; we promptly shut this down.
