Love-stuck

Haunted by the past

ensuring good times never last

I hold your hand and leave you in the dark

giving the beginning of our ending a sudden start

 

Our circle becomes jaded

The trust has long since faded

Our future becomes a past, momentary thought

What would have been a hole,

now is nothing but a dot

 

My misinterpretation started all of this

Fear manifested itself into my sharpest knife

I stabbed myself

until I took our life

Didn't want to be your burden

So inside myself I rot

Leaving you a stranger,

locking you out so you can only look

At what fear will take and what it took

 

I regret the outcome so I will not give up

So I begin

picking up the pieces my scars have left behind

searching to create what never crossed your mind

But you bring no closure to this blend and make me blind

 

A harsh, soothing melody mediates this madness

Not forgiven, just forgotten

Earful of excuses robbing us like Bandits

Stealing Hope as quick as they've been forced

Then they got away before I uttered one more word

 

So there we lay together in our mess bleeding out

mouthing weapons mightier than guns

Imagining sunshine in between the clouds

We grab each other's ears

then we scream and shout

But, no matter how loud,

we cannot hear each other's sounds

A pain we found so bound to mountains of our love made us deaf

Now every move we make turns this into Chess

We'll wait until only one of us is left

The other departed with sweet, relieving death.
