Looks like she's doing it better than most folks at the gym. By the time she's old enough to control a grigri you should be all set. :)
You don't have too long to wait. My (70lb) 10 year old has caught me on a couple really huge falls this summer.. All hail the mighty Edelrid Ohm. Pretty cool being able to do multi-pitch stuff like this and have him able to belay on them.
If he falls wouldn't she go flying? Lol
Right into the rock, my friend. Right into the rock.
Solid belay technique.
She never took her brake hand off the rope. Couldn't quite grasp feeding the rope, but she held fast to the brake strand.
Good enough for me. Must have had a good teacher.
Where's your helmet?!?!?!
Lack of helmet, poorly dressed fig 8, rope management is a disaster, and I don't think she's even using a belay device. I'd rate this setup as a 9/10/, I'd prolly send
Wait, you don't usually stack your rope at the top of the crag when toproping?
Helmets are aid
My boys and their friends, when they were 6 or 7, loved to use my gear to set up little anchors on cliffs that size. They swing on them and say belay commands, etc.
Is that a stuffed animal on her harness? Cause that's adorable.
It's a puppet I sewed a loop to for use as a chalk bag.
That's a great idea!
Is she wearing a bike helmet?
And now...I suddenly thinking: "Hey, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have a kid; those little shits could make life even more fun!"
Or you could not and go climbing more which would make life even more fun!
