My Multi-function F Robin Build

Unit Build

Thanks to the all the feathers we've been getting and tempest trials requiring sustainability,(through healing if you don't want to Brave Weapon/Deperation Bladetome your way through) I've finally gotten around to building this F Robin I've been kicking around in my head for a while!

A few things before we begin. This is my final build for this unit. Going in, I wanted something that wasn't Triangle Adept + Raventome because that's boring, and I already have a 5* M Robin for that. Well... and because I wanted to mess around with an Owltome; I always thought Owltomes could have good synergy with Breath of Life since people will huddle around the unit anyway and it's not like I had any other good use for the Breath of Life seal. With healing like that. I wouldn't need to bring a healer into Tempest Trials, which is the mode I made had in mind when I made this.

Again, this build was made with Tempest Trial and Squad Assault in mind. For arena, I wouldn't suggest skills like Renewal or Breath of Life and Robin's Atk, Spd and Res leads to her performing the tasks you'd expect from a green mage rather poorly. She can struggle checking the usual suspects she'd run into in Arena such as Delthea, Linde, Julia, Nino, summer Corrin, Reinhart and even the Brave Lance Flyers like Est and Cordelia have decent res and spd... for arena, you're better off looking for a more reliable hard counter to these threats.

##Here she is

#Let's talk numbers

As you should already know, F Robin is locked into a neutral IV. That isn't so bad, I'd probably pick neutral anyway as there isn't a stat that I'd lower to raise something else. I wouldn't mind having more Res but it's not worth losing points in any other stat anyway.

These numbers assume she has Fury 3 equipped.

  • 40 hp is pretty high for a mage, but with this build she'll need all the HP she can get as she'll be taking hits and Fury 3 recoil.

  • atk at 42 before buffs isn't too low or too high, but it is definitely underwhelming if you expected a lot kills outside of low res or slow blues from Robin. Assuming she has just 1 Hone/Rally/Spur Attack buddy, it gets to a respectable 48.

  • spd at 32 is that weird mid level that isn't fast to reliably double often but is enough to avoid getting doubled from others in that speed tier.(excellent for a tank) Additionally, with just 1 Hone/Rally/Spur Speed buddy adjacent to her, she gets to 38 spd, which is pretty high for someone who is 29 naturally.

  • 32 def is already pretty high, right?(definitely for a mage) But it becomes absurd for a unit with this kind of speed potential. With that Hp and her Spd and Def having fluctuating potential like this, she doesn't even need Raventome + TA to check archers and ninjas.

  • 25 res is passable but nothing to write home about. Like her other stats, it increases with how much you're willing to commit to her(stacking units near her), but I wish it were higher.

#Now for the skills I use:

GronnOwl+: This tome is leagues better than her default tome. It still has a low MT, but it's effect to inflate her underwhelming statline to rather absurd levels more than makes up for it. It can be a bit difficult to use when you first try but, you'll get the hang of it pretty fast.

Draw Back: Draw Back is typically thrown on mages anyway; I doubt that I need to explain this one, but I do have to shout out Swap. Without it, I probably would've NEEDED a Reinhardt or a 5 star Archer with Brave Bow+ to clear Infernal Valter, of which I have neither.(Yes, I used this Robin build on the Valter GHB)

Ignis: That high def might as well be good for something else too, right? I actually prefer Bonfire for the lower charge, but she already has Ignis and I don't feel like using my only spare M Robin for it at the moment.

Fury 3 Robin's stat line is lower than what people generally aim for in a green mage and this is the skill that I use to alleviate that issue. Early on, I considered Triangle Adept, but felt that I'd rather have a skill that'd be useful on all enemies and not just blues. It also helps her get to that bogus speed stat of 38 with low investment. It's what puts her in that "middling" speed tier in the first place!

Renewal 3: Since I use Robin as my healer with the Breath of Life 3 + Breath of Life seal, I needed a way to heal Robin. Rather than putting Reciprocal Aid on someone, I use renewal. It's especially good in Tempest trials as it always activates on turn one of each map. My runs generally take 3 turns per map, which is 20hp each map assuming she attacks 2 or 3 times per map, Renwal healing at the start of turn 3 and then the following map's turn 1 will outpace Fury damage.

Renewal also has the added bonus of being easy to aquire. You already need a 5star Boey to pass GronnOwl+, so just use Lissa or Jakob to pass Renwal 1 and 2 and then use the 5star Boey for GronOwl, GronOwl+ and Renewal 3.

Breath of Life 3: Generally speaking, you will have units adjacent to Robin when she's attacking anyway; might as well do two things at once. Because it stacks with the Breath of Life seal, using both simultaneously is potent and makes use of a seal that I imagine most people don't use at all.

It is especially effective when used on my Celica who was able to take advantage of Ragnarok's effect extremely often. That specific friendship wasn't too one-sided as Robin appreciated Celica's Spur Defense for a clean +6defense assuming no other buffs and no other adjacent allies.(38def) For the record, neutral Hector has 37 def. Let that sink in for a minute. Similarly, I'd imagine units carrying the Ylissean Summer weapons, the Hardy Bearing seal and Lloyd would like the multitask healing thing to help them stay at %100 hp.

Oh hey, a post that is already compliant with the new unit build rules

glances at OP's name

That explains a lot XD

Jokes aside I just have two comments

I think A!Tiki has Bonfire

Also you added a space the the right of the first "**" in Breath of Life

Thanks for sharing~

Funny story, I was thinking about how BoL3 had synergy with Owl Tomes earlier haha Savage blow hurts it though

Been looking for a build to round off my Robinhood Emblem

I did mention this in the State of the Subreddit post, but this is exactly the level of quality content that unit build posts should have. Stuff like specific build goals, stats and what they allow the hero to do, efficient skill inheritance, team synergy, other options - everything. I know you're a mod Fro so if you intended for this to be an example of the new format then excellent job.

The build itself is very cool as well. Owl tomes are underrated, perhaps because it's more defense oriented than what people are used to. But you can combine this with spurs on your teammates to boost any 3 or even 1 stat of your choice and approach bladetome levels of power or theme team levels of defenses while being immune to Panic. I never thought of Breath of Life synergy before but it makes a lot of sense.

Overall though, what advantages does F!Robin have at running this build when you could use Boey, who comes with IV's and most of this kit at a lower investment cost?

That's what I was aiming for!

But you can combine this with spurs on your teammates to boost any 3 or even 1 stat of your choice and approach bladetome levels of power or theme team levels of defenses while being immune to Panic.

Owltomes are undoubtably better than blade tome in my mind or at least better on non-hyper offence mages, but it requires a bit more skill. It's not super hard to use but it's not quite as brain-dead as putting a bladetome user back inside the "charge dock" to get the boosts on the following turn.

Overall though, what advantages does F!Robin have at running this build when you could use Boey, who comes with IV's and most of this kit at a lower investment cost?

Basically none. Their stat lines are so close that they're interchangeable. Robin has 3 more res but it basically doesn't matter since Boey has 3 more HP. Robin is faster but a +spd Boey is 1 point faster. When I made this build, it's because I wanted to find a use for F Robin because I wanted to use her.(and I sort of needed another reliable green mage for Arena Assualt) As someone who hasn't played SoV I have no connection to Boey at all and for just 20k more feathers I could use a character that I do like. Since the hero merit cap was raised to 3k and we get even more feathers weekly than before from Arena Assualt, it was a pretty easy decision for me to make. If you like the build but don't like the idea of spending 40K feathers for it, then just 5star the Boey; It's not even worse and is pretty inexpensive compared to putting the same build on F Robin. In the end, the appeal of this game is to play with characters you to like so I don't feel too bad about it.

There's a certain fun to locking a Blade into place each turn, it's like loading a shotgun. But other the other hand, getting a perfect formation and having them kill themselves on the Owl wall is great, too.

I know you said Renewal is important, but did you consider something like Vantage or Quick Reposte? If I'm running Tempest, I'm usually running a healer, so keeping Robin topped off shouldn't be so difficult in those situations.

1
egg-rollingKagero•

I mean I am not OP but I love myself some renewal so I am gonna jump in here a little.

I think having this particular Robin serves the purpose of "everyone is a combatant" where unless you got an Genny, you are almost one man short on combat if you bring a healer.

So if you don't bring a healer, Vantage/Fury/QR user dies surprisingly quick in Temptest trial due to the inflating stats and the nature of "you gotta take damage to create damage"

For me, I have been running a Renewal Celica (Ragnark bonus ftw)Renewal Gray (so he can trigger his wind boost all the time), and a WoM dancer and a green mage. They never fail me. Sometimes by the end of the trial still have most of their health.

2
artemi7Cleric•

That's fair. I ran the entire first Tempest with Clarine in my primary party, and you can tell since she's got 3500+ SP. This third Tempest, though, I ran mostly fliers so I didn't need as much healing. It's not really a downside to run a healer for me, personally. I do however has a spare 5 star Lissa I pulled just sitting around, waiting for someone to need her skills...

3
coloredcadenceFelicia•

sees Fury

Oh no not another Fury/Desper ---

sees Renewal

Oho?

Okay, this is a nice build! I like the synergy between Fury and Renewal to maintain her health while also doubling as a healer with Reciprocal Aid. I sometimes run Felicia like that too. Gronnowl is a nice touch to further boost her rather average statline. And it's nice to see more Breath of Life usage. It's surprisingly good with proper placement in Tempest Trials / Chain Challenge!

You mentioned that she struggles with blue mages, but is that mainly when facing arena builds? How does she fair against the inflated stats in Tempest / Chain Challenge? I'm curious since I'm looking to build up Boey, and his statline is similar to Robin's.

3
Frobro_da_truffOPLyn•

You mentioned that she struggles with blue mages, but is that mainly when facing arena builds?

I haven't tried using her in arena yet, but that's what I was referring to. Having had a +res Julia since her first Banner, I couldn't imagine trying to use Robin in the same capacity. She doesn't have high enough attack to ohko most common blues or the speed to make up for that. Then there's the issue of her res and speed being poor for combating other green mages. I'll probably end up using her when Robin's GHB rerun comes back again and she's a bonus unit in arena, so I'll have more information then, but at the moment I just have better options for that.

How does she fair against the inflated stats in Tempest / Chain Challenge? I'm curious since I'm looking to build up Boey, and his statline is similar to Robin's.

With a buddy or two she was fast enough to pick up quite a few doubles in the lunatic, 5 map Tempest trial stratum. She also completely hard countered every Ninjas Archers, which I find the game likes spawning disproportionately often. She's also pretty untouchable while on a Def tile. She could probably run close counter and distant defense pretty well too, but those aren't common and I like the crazy stat inflation from Fury. In the infernal Valter GHB, two adjacent buddies makes her fast enough to double that Archer and kill him on enemy phase.

1
RaveleineTeam Summer Robin•

The thing is, I don't think Robin's average speed merits the use of Desperation since she won't really be doubling a good majority of the common units. I hear Breaker skills or Quick Riposte is actually better for her if you want to use her in a more "offensive" way.

1
Deathmask97Nohrian/Ylissean Summer Champion•

Wow, that is eerily similar to my Boey...

I guess great minds think alike!

3
OreoCupcakesNohrian/Ylissean Summer Champion•

I mean, it's basically like Boey. There's very little difference between Boey and Robin-F.
Boey - 43/29/27/32/18
Robin-F - 40/29/29/29/22
The trade is basically, 2 additional spd and 4 additional res for 3 hp and 3 def. Other than that, OP basically took all of all but Boey's A skill and transplanted it on Robin-F.

2
artemi7Cleric•

Honestly THIS is the kind of forward planning and thinking I'd expect from our lovely Mystery Tactician!

Sadly, I never pulled Boey, or else I'd really consider trying this. She's a cutie and I never found a good use for her...

3
JNato•

Same, I wanted to do a build with gronnowl, but with close counter instead to maximize her tanking abilities. But I might just give her fury or even something like mirror strike to fight mages better for the time being. I'm about to +2 my Robin and STILL waiting for boey... Might just give her Gronnraven first at this rate.

2
artemi7Cleric•

I pulled Mae, but honestly, she's not as cute as Robin's twin tails, so I kinda wish Mae was Boey instead haha

1
floesnotalTeam Summer Robin•

Sadly, I never pulled Boey.

Join the club. When it comes to arena, ohko's are supreme, so it's pretty freeing thinking of comps that don't rely on that.

Please let every build post in the future be detailed like this even with the new rules in place, I'm still a bit doubtful, it's really nice seeing other people's thought processes.

1
artemi7Cleric•

That's honestly my favorite part of the Tempest. I'm not even worried about Arena these days; I do a full 7 run, not really worried about losing people or not, and that's enough to get like 16-18 rank. That's good enough for me, I can focus on other parts of the game that seem like they allow much more open ended build paths.

1
TriangleIneptRobin (Female)•

I'm hoping another rerun is sometime soon, I started just a little bit after the second run ended :(

On another note, couldn't Boey functionally fulfill the same purpose with less investment?

I'd have gone through with it anyway since I'm not really too attached to the SoV characters.

3
nkhuong•

Nice build. Between Merric/FRobin/Boey, I wonder who's best to wield the Owl Tome. They all have excellent defense. I'd argue that Merric is actually the best because he has the highest speed of the three. Even though his tome is legendary with higher might, effective against fliers is a bit too situational. Can I get stats for all three?<Merric> <FRobin> <Boey>

Love this kind of build for TT and other PVE content! I used something very similar with a 4* Boey in the 2nd TT (where he was a bonus unit) and it required very little SI at all.

Gronnowl+???? You monster!

2
nalgenic•

Sounds like a pretty fun build. Who do you usually run her with besides Celica? Are all her teammates running Spurs/Hones/Fortifys?

2
Frobro_da_truffOPLyn•

The team was Celica who I used a Sully to give Draw Back and Sword-Break 1 and 2, s non-SI Ninian with Fort Def 2 equipped and a non-SI Gray with the Fort Res 1 seal. It was enough to consistently score the max points in Tempest Trials. In other things I'll use her in like Squad Assault and Arena Assault, I'll probably have a hone attacker or hone speeder on the team.

Generally speaking though, most of my units have some hone or fortify in their C slot so She'll benefit from those kind of buffs pretty often.

1
MayngueneBerkut•

BoL 3 + 1 is perhaps my favourite thing in TT and other map chains. It really allows my Almbulance (yes, he needs all the healing skills he can get) and really anyone else to heal your team up past critical skill activation thresholds to keep them active. It almost completely outdoes healers imo

2
artemi7Cleric•

Hmm... I have a healer built Masked Lucina that has Hone Atk because I couldn't think of anything else to give her. I wonder how we'll she'd do with BoL...

1
goldtreebarkRobin (Ylissean Summer)•

This is nice! The post is also formatted so well that it's easy to follow and read. My +3 F!Robin has a Gronnowl+ and Fury as well, but I usually change the B skill around a bit and I have a Hone Spd for the C slot.

I actually use mine in Arena (i'm that determined to find use for her lol) and I usually team her up with my Eirika when I do. With Eirika buffs + at least another teammate standing adjacent, her stats can reach pretty cool levels (esp that defense), and she can even trade with Julia and Nino if the positioning is right.

I'm still getting the hang of her with an owl tome since I used to run her with TA+Gronnraven, but I've been having a lot of fun with this one too.

2
MegaBanettesOdin•

Oh this gave me some good ideas for my Boey! Neat write-up.

2
darkdogdemonZephiel•

I really like the build! I'm happy it's done lol, I think you mentioned to me before how you were experimenting with Owl tomes and whatnot.

How does she work with your F! Corrin?

Also, considering she has 29 defense and, with 1/2/3 next to her, has 31/33/35 defense, have you considered putting Close Defense on her? She'd get 35 defense or 37/39/41 defense depending on the amount of people near her, which could allow her to act as a decent wall against blue units and allow her to farm special charge on Hector before absolutely obliterating him with Ignis.

2
Frobro_da_truffOPLyn•

How does she work with your F! Corrin?

Now that you mention it I don't think I've used these two on the same team yet. I suppose that if I did I could take renewal off Corrin and replace it with one of the more common B skills because Robin will be in charge of keeping her in high enough hp for Earth Boost.

That could be an option if I had a Summer Tiki, but then I'd start feeling like I'd rather have Close Counter since I'm already using her to block Lances.

2
darkdogdemonZephiel•

I was actually going to mention Close Counter, but with at best 35 defense, she's still going to take some serious damage from greens. I figured the more defense would help her out.

Speaking of which, have you thought about Close Counter + QP Sacred Seal + Seal Res? Ignis would be at 3, and with 32 speed, she's probably going to be doubled by physical units, so she can fully charge Ignis and murder her opponent on her next initiation.

Works with Stahl at least lol.

1
Frobro_da_truffOPLyn•

I don't like the "Seal X" skills so i'd have to pass on that one.

2
darkdogdemonZephiel•

Really? I love them! They often Seal the deal when it comes to most fights.

3
Mapivos•

Yo, so my question for you on this: how do you effectively get into a groove for POSITIONING this F Robin with a Gronnowl Tome? I feel like practically in battle it's incredibly difficult to get 3, let alone 1 or 2 units to crowd around an Owl tome user for it to be effective enough.

2
Frobro_da_truffOPLyn•

2 is usually enough, 3 is the dream.

You can use one person to attack a unit and then move aesideside them and attack a different unit. You can use her as an enemy phaser; put her in a danger area and surround her with your units. You could also use swap or reposition om someone who is in the danger zone too. Generally, don't try to go for the 3 unit boost and using movement skills on other units makes it even easier to accomplish .

1
Mapivos•

Ahh that makes sense. I feel like that's pretty situational, though, no? Could be just a muscle memory thing.

3
Clerics4LifeBarst•

Lloyd's Regal Blade functions off of enemy health not Lloyd's health.

Seems to be the one misconception that most people don't catch.

Otherwise, pretty standard commentary, just wish that 4☆ Jakob was easier to find than his 5☆ for chain-inheritance optimizing.

No worries, friendo. On Reddit you can either post a link, an image, or a text post. No combination of three. What I did was I uploaded my screencap to Imgur and linked it in my Reddit text post. Reddit has been expanding into other sites territory recently so I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future we were able to post an image while also having text under it.

Thx for the build OP, forgot about Female Robin

sgm88Cordelia•

I did the same thing with my +Def/-Hp Soren. He was getting mild run as my only 5* green mage until I got a Boey and decided to toss the owl tome to Soren. Since I generally play pretty clumped up to my Olivia anyway it just seemed like a natural progression to using the owl tome pretty efficiently. Absolutely love the build and with some experience with it, it gets pretty easy to hit x4/x6 to stats.

https://i.imgur.com/Olw7aQr.png

I've recently pulled another Soren with better IV's (+Spd/-Def), so Ill be merging onto that one, so sadly I'll be losing the ability to group around Soren and comfortably tank a physical blue hit. I still consider the build to be complete and don't plan on turning him into a blade tome user.

2

Love the owl/BoL synergy! I used that setup on Mae for TT2, except I didn't have Renewal fodder so swapped Fury for Atk +3 and used QR in the B slot so she could ORKO Celica in the end.
