Today i was thinking about where I want my career to go. I just started this job last month and it's a great starting off point in general, but not the exact path I want to go down.
Today, after a long week of doing literally nothing (see post history for previous bitching), I picked up a project I started last week that got canceled (because the show it was for got canceled) and went back to it just for fun. It felt soooooo good to be editing videos again. I haven't had any videos worth editing in FOREVER, personally and professionally. Even though I'm limited to super super basic editing software on my work computer (think simpler than Windows Movie Maker), I made a really nice rough cut of how I want the end product to look like. Tomorrow I have to to to my appointment with one of our editors so it can be "properly" edited, but it should be a quick and easy process because of the work I put in today.
I am just a little down that I can't finalize all the editing myself, but it just felt so good getting back in the zone when editing a video.

Good for you! I think it's super important to have a sense of control or a feeling of choice in what you do. On the whole I really like my job, but when I'm forced to do certain aspects of it when I'd rather be doing others, that's when I start hating it.
I've also been taking stock of my life in multiple ways (career/dating etc.) in the last two weeks, and I'm understanding much better what things I want out of these different aspects of my life, and for once my thinking is making me happier and not more miserable.

Yeah it's definelty always good to take stock of your life and evaluate where you're at where you want to be. Even though this project won't have any direct impact on my job, it's still a good experience and will hopefully be something I can add to my portfolio and make it look more professional.

BoJack Horseman has got me thinking about whether or not I am a good person deep down and if the reasons I do things for people is out of the good of my heart or the praise i may get.
Fuck, man... I knew this show was heavy and depressing, but i wasn't expecting this level of pain. I still got 3 seasons left.

He was having a rough time after dropping out of art school and not sure if he could ever call up his parents in Ohio for help because he wasn't making enough money to live on and was getting turned down for jobs. Maybe I am good if I still wonder if he is okay?
But I wouldn't say I get pissy over not getting my way in major things, like breakups. I do get depressed and irrational, but I don't lash out and attack or get bitter.
