What weapon and armor for a Summoner/Necro?

I'm planning a party for Classic, and this is what I have so far (basically just copying from u/Nerd_Commando's guide):

Paladin (Sword + Shield): 10 Warfare|10 Hydro|1 Necro|1 Scoundrel

Rogue (Daggers): 10 Warfare|10 Scoundrel|1 Poly|1 Aero

Ranger (Bow/Crossbow): 10 Warfare|10 Ranged|3 Huntsman

But I get lost at what I'm supposed to do for Summoner. Looking at the skills, if you put everything into Summoning, what exactly are you doing on your turns in Act 1?

Conjure Incarnate + Power Infusion on your first turn, but then what? You can Elemental Totem once on the next turn, but that leaves you with 3 AP (one from the first turn).

Normally you'd be able to do a basic attack, but do you really want to be in melee range? If you take a wand or a staff, though, then you're just doing magical damage which would be useless here. Would I just give the Summoner a hand-me-down bow from the Ranger and plunk away with 10 Finesse?

IIRC most damage from these two is physical as well, so you better go down the Warfare route as well.

Are you stacking Int? Because if you are, don't your elemental totems and incarnates do magic damage on basic attack anyway? If you really want physical damage though I suppose you can get staff/wand/dual wand with rune slots and add as many of those +% as physical damage runes as you can maybe? Chances are you'd be doing more damage than with a 10 Finesse bow I believe

Im pretty sure totems can deal both. Your totems do damage based on what type they are. If you summon them in water/poison/fire they'll deal magic damage. On solid ground dirt/rock/wood they'll deal physical damage.

I didn't know about poison, basic terrain etc. I meant elemental as in air, fire, water and earth though. Does earth elemental do physical damage too? I'm playing a sum/hydro myself but I always use either fire or water so I don't know about the others lol

I'm almost 100% sure the "wood" elemental (the generic totem that isn't placed in an element) deals physical damage. The damage numbers don't come up colored like the others do.

Wood totems and basic Incarnate do physical damage. Blood totems and Incarnate do physical damage, plus totems inflict Bleeding and Incarnate has Mosquito Swarm spell.

Other totems/incarnate do magical damage both with autoattack and spells.

Es. Oil Totem -> Earth damage + Slow

Summoner is essentially a "bonus" ability tree, meaning you can reduce the power of any build to dip into it and gain a lot of utility.

IMHO is better to choose which class you want to play, and just start putting the first 10 ability points straight into Summoning. After that your character should build up like you even didn't have Summoning at all.

From the builds you pasted...

Healer Paladin (Sword + Shield): 5 Warfare|5 Hydro|1 Necro|1 Scoundrel

DPS Paladin (Sword + Shield): 8 Warfare|2 Hydro|1 Necro|1 Scoundrel

Rogue (Daggers): 5 Warfare|5 Scoundrel|1 Poly|1 Aero

Ranger (Bow/Crossbow): 10 Warfare|0 Ranged|3 Huntsman

^ This because Ranged gives a lot less power than Warfare.

Almost all of these builds get a lot of summon-damage and utility, paying with self-damage and a few points in memory (mainly for the infusions, es: 1x1 Bone Widow, 1x1 Incarnate, 2x1 base infusions, 4x2 advanced elemental infusions).

I started as an Inquisitor without, any warfrafe skills, and i totally forgot I'm could learn them so i went full Necro/Summoner, I was mostly Summoning imps, totems, and using 2 handers when they got close to me. I would never be able to move tho since i have to many skills like my bar was full at level 10 with just skills.
