Falling From The Sky
This love burns like it’s entering the atmosphere,
Fierce friction at every moment.
The heat burns deep, but damn,
It burns bright.
A screaming ember against
A pitch black desert sky,
We flare and fall until
We crack and collapse.
Now, two fireballs separated
On the inveterate path,
We both drift off.
Two sparks fade from fiery yellow,
To foolhardy orange,
To madcap red,
To moribund black.
We were a wish in the night sky,
Now smoldering craters in the dirt.
