Shiver

Why do I feel so cold? 
It’s been blazing all week.
But putting pen to paper about you
makes things frozen.
I can’t keep feeling this way, 
Because I can’t afford to lose a limb.
This grips my heart and turns it to stone.
A few soft shakes and then it is gone.
You may hear heartbeat off in the distance, 
Its umbriferous tone haunting you.
But, it could just be the wind.
The blizzard taunting your memory.
I hope you feel cold without me.
I don’t feel a thing without you.
