So disappointed..

I have deliberately ignored every news or preview about the game since its announcement and I am now regretting that decision.
I'm at chapter 3 and the free roaming structure together with focus on resources and workbenches makes the game feel dumbed down to a third-person mod of Dying Light.
Do things get better at some point? Is this game still the same mindfuckery that was the first?

You can still shake your head while you elaborate, you know..

Chapter 3 is like one hour in. The game is around 10 to 11ish hours. How can you seriously give a verdict already.

Who says he did? He’s asking if it gets better. Chill fans

I'm pretty chill. Let me rephrase. I find it odd that he or she would ask such a question when he or she is only one hour in.

Haven't had a chance to play yet but supposedly second half of the game is much more like the first game

Thanks, you gave me a reason to proceed, regardless :)

It feels pretty uneven so far

Have you never played Silent Hill?

Personally RE4 was my fave game of all time and the evil within was fine but the open world i feel restricts the game’s ability to tell a contained narrative that feels as claustrophobic as the first one. It’s scary at times but only the scripted moments are, when I’m walking around in the open world it’s not as scary as the previous game and it can be annoying to startle an enemy instead of it being terrifying. That being said i just appreciate the game as a whole as something different than what i expected, even tho i don’t enjoy the open world aspect as much

I kind of feel the same to a degree, I am a huge fan of the first one and I was so excited to start it up today, I've been exploring around chapter three on nightmare for a hour or two and something just feels off. I can't put my finger on it. I think one thing I'm really not digging is the huge amount of stealth your kind of forced into if you want to be saving ammo etc etc.

but it is quite early on, maybe we just need time to adjust.

They massified it. This is what makes it feel off. Back on the day of its announcement, upon hearing that Mikami wasn't involved I grew suspicious that he saw something in the game that might not have been up his alley. But I didn't expect to learn it was that many things. :/

Yep, game just doesn't feel like a sequel to the original, it's a completely different game. The original had a very gripping atmosphere right from the get go, this one hasn't.

Iam 2 hours in and the game feels incredibly shallow so far. It's like a completely different game to the original. There is almost no resemblance to the original whatsoever. Maybe Iam just getting old but the game feels rushed...

Mikami had complete approval of everything in this game even if he wasn't the director, his hands were all over it.... people need to stop spreading lies and improper information.

He is an executive producer and supervisor on the game. Those are his credits.

Please just do your homework, read about the development, and understand that it's his company and everything has to have his approval, even if he isn't totally behind the creative process. Not sure what your so angry about.
