My friend finally shows regret

As a (barely literate) leader...
"he has the right to say it whether we agree with it or not"
This has to be the absolute lamest excuse for trump's childish outbursts. My 2 year old neighbor can take a dump on the sidewalk, but I wouldn't expect anyone to justify it by saying she the right. Yet, that's the level of justification your friend is offering.
Yeah I don't understand his backtrack at the end. It's like he still can't fully admit he made a mistake. He still got absolutely blasted by his conservative family and friends and had to delete the post.
He won the election by being rude. People loved it. "He's not afraid to tell it like it is. "

Whoever made America worship "free speech" the way it does has a lot to answer for.
Actually, Trump no longer has the right to say anything he wants. He did as a private citizen (with certain limits).
But now Trump is the government. He can only say the things that the government can say. When Trump tries to crush First Amendment rights, that's the government trying to do it.
It's illegal and it's unConstitutional.
So, please tell your friend that.
That's the thing Trump doesn't get. He doesn't understand the weight behind his words, even on Twitter. He can cause a stock market panic on the toilet with his phone. He can cause an international incident on Hannity. When he demeans people, he's doing it as the USA, not just Donald Trump.
