Catamargay
Lock you in me as a warm memory
for morning’s sake and noontime tea.
Call you when a lotus leaves, remember
to bring you back across the wailing sea.
Joy in a long boat recalls boyhood dreams
of warm waters flooding the space I lay
in midnight before you bloomed and called
your name echoed back: Catamargay.
Mar for your mother and Cat to me,
just Gay for the half-seen mounts of land.
A drop of you colors a change in them,
then you leave no trace: Cat, take my hand.
