Ecstacy

Hey guys, I experienced something while meditating and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it. I experience this deep state of ecstacy while meditating, my eyes roll back into my head, it's stronger than any orgasm and I sort of become numb to the outside world, it was really cool!

You have the Shiva: silent, dark, still, peaceful, and the Shakti, the movement, light and form, ex-static.

Usually there is more focused laid on the silent aspect within meditation traditions because it can be more ego dissolving and we are already used to being focused on name/form and having made a false identity around it, and people can create more ego story around energetic happenings more so.

So don't create thoughts and ideas around it, just let it come and go.

I sort of become numb to the outside world

This is called pratyahara in yoga meditation.

I experience this deep state of ecstacy while meditating, my eyes roll back into my head, it's stronger than any orgasm

This state is called 'superconsciousness' in yoga meditation.

There are high states called 'samadhi' in meditation but the states leading up to it are also full of ecstacy.

This is part of the reason meditation has been so popular for thousands of years. You can gain a level of bliss and joy and peace that the outside world cannot provide.

The pleasure experienced from meditation can be more intense than sense pleasures and will bring about a happiness that is a higher happiness than brought on by fulfilling sense pleasures. All sense desires are temporary. Eating for an entire day or having sex for and entire day straight would be tiring and eventually unpleasant. However, it is possible meditate all day and experience deep states of happiness brought on by renunciations, gratitude, selflessness, etc. It is said that the Buddha could sit in a state of jhanic absorption (deep concentrated meditation) for 7 days straight. Sit down and get up 7 days later. No sense pleasure is anywhere near that strong.
