So, confirmed:
Yes, it's true, Valve has no dick.
Yet somehow they still manage to act like a total dick
Well, they need to compensate somehow.
So, they won't do dick, they have no dick and are a complete dick?
Is anyone honestly surprised? They've had SJW totalitarian cretins whispering in their ear for a while now. It's always been a matter of when.
You wanna fight this? Email valve, tell them you're done using their store, then stop using it.
I've been mostly using GoG now for 90% of my pc gaming purchases for awhile a now. But I got nearly 400 games on stream, so I'm not giving that up anytime soon.
I don't even remember my Steam ID anymore, or to which Email I registered it to. Confirmed console peasant >:(
Oh come on, you people are acting like this is some grand betrayal.
They got a gaming platform that many people use, it makes sense that they don't want pornographic shit promoted in there.
This isn't some grand sjw conspiracy ffs.
Some people mentioned there's a game called ladykiller in bind.
So, a random shitty anime game nobody's fucking heard off that probably slipped the radar is your nail in the coffin?
Come the fuck on. There's no deeper fucking meaning to this. It's obvious what is going on. It's not a conspiracy, it's not sjws.
It's a company doing what any normal company would do in this sitiuation.
They got a gaming platform that many people use, it makes sense that they don't want pornographic shit promoted in there.
Fuck that shit. I'm sick and fucking tired of shit like this. For years Valve allowed uncensor patches on Steam. If others can't handle that Valve allowed people to post uncensor patches on their discussion forums than fuck them.
Oh no, a kid might get access to it and see it. Maybe the parents of the kid should be doing their jobs as parents and make sure Little Timmy doesn't see phonographic content. But no, instead Valve has to be dickless and remove the discussion of uncensor patches because some people might not like seeing them. Fuck them.
. For years Valve allowed uncensor patches on Steam.
Yes. Because in you case haven't nobticed steam is GROWING and getting a bigger spotlight on it everday due to it's importance.
OBVIOUSLY, the bigger something gets the more careful it's going to be.
A subreddit with 3 users will have looser rules than one with 100.000, same for a forum, same for a small bussiness, same for a godamn company.
The more something grows, the more it has to be regulated. It's not that hard.
Jesus, stop throwing a fucking tantrum over anime tities on steam. It's not like steam has fucking banned you from downloading them, you're still free to get them from the official site and install them.

Steam has been in the spotlight for years and they never cracked down on it before but now all of a sudden they do? It's bullshit.

It's not about anime titles on Steam it's about the fact they're removing any and all discussion about uncensor patches. They're censoring their own platform for something that people have to go into the forum discussions to see in the first place.
If people can still get access to these uncensor patches on the official site than what's the point of Valve taking them off Steam for? People can still get access to them freely and apply them to the game they buy on Steam so what does exactly does this fix or solve? How do we know Steam won't stop carrying those games in general?
Heck, nude mods exist for Skyrim and Fallout 4 and uncensor patches are basically mods for censored games so what's to stop them getting rid of those mods too? Valve is going down an anti-consumer and SJW path with this bullshit and I for one say fuck them for it.
Truth be told I'm not even that mad. I'm not done with steam yet, personally, it's more that I'm tired of the sheer number of people who are anti-censorship whose sole contribution is to whine incessantly. I know plenty of friends who hate censorship but buy every damn censored-to-fuck-and-back anime game and continue to bitch about it. I also know friends who still read destructoid and kotaku and incessantly bitch about how annoying the constant ramrodding of authoritarian-left politics is. If you care enough to whine about it, don't just whine here.
I can kind of understand the issue here, but I don't necessarily agree with it either. My biggest issue is that I think there should be as much control given to the creators as possible, and forbidding essentially mention of anything explicit in the discussion boards for their own damn game sounds a tad bit too far.
Jim Sterling said he has a direct line to valve, and plenty of others to too. They've campaigned against "moral degeneracy" numerous times before. Pardon me for thinking there may be a significant chance that the changes in policy banning controversial content may be coming from people who are in direct contact with the company and have established themselves as moral guardians.
And as for Ladykiller in a bind, it's a repeating trend that we see constantly. We just had a sitewide rules change that magically applied retroactively but only to right-leaning subs, for fuck sake. Reddit and Twitter are infamous at this point for being completely deaf to any reports of rulebreaking from the right(not even the right, just anyone who isn't left-authoritarian enough to make mao blush), yet all to eager to slam their accounts for the slightest perceived transgression. Facebook and youtube less so, but still enough that there's a definite trend. We know LKiaB is from an SJW with SJW ties to SJW friends in high places. This matches the pattern we have seen more times than anyone here can fucking count. Chances are pretty fucking high that yeah, it's an "SJW conspiracy".
EDIT: Of course you would completely ignore a rational response. Your kind are very adept at that.
Specifically (from a quote, emphasis mine):
During our meeting Valve reiterated that anything classified as “pornography” under Washington State Law could never be carried or sold on Steam. It was made rather clear to us after our discussion that adult patches were a sensitive issue for them. It was clear in our talks that official discussion and promotion of paid adult patches was out from the beginning, because that violates Steam’s TOS by using Steam to promote offsite products.
Patches are iffy.
You could argue that patches are not exactly games, since they, by definition, require something to be used for. The problem is that this situation creates a loophole: you can have a game that is made to be pornography-free, sell it, and then you can then modify it to have pornography. Steam apparently interprets this as a violation, since it can mean that developers are enabling people to buy games that will eventually become porn, which the government doesn't like (this calls into question Steam Workshop that has some users creates stuff like the nude mods, which is another can of worms, but has its own separate reasoning).
There is a simple solution: simply promote the porn patch on your game website only, not on Steam. You can also put them up on some torrent website anonymously, but that may be just me.
By the way, the Ladykiller in a Bind shenanigans tell me one of two things is happening (since I have never played/will never play it): either the game is really covert with its sex scenes, or the sex scenes are shitty enough for it to get past Valve's eye.
you can have a game that is made to be pornography-free, sell it, and then you can then modify it to have pornography
Are you talking about Skyrim? Because it sounds like you're talking about Skyrim.
Lusty argonian maid.
With dick nipples.
Remember when people got trolled to install the Shlongs mod and couldn't remove it without full game uninstall. Those were good days.
By that logic, they could ban all discussion of fanworks in general. Fan art, fanfiction, mods for Bethseda games, mods for games with a LUA hook, sites with downloads with patches to fix buggy games, sites with patches for games like Garry's mod that albut require other games to be downloaded to play, etc etc.
Vlave never cared about uncensor patches before so why start now? If someone under the age of 18 buys a game just to see sex scenes that isn't on Valve it's on the shitty parents for not keeping track of what their kids buys.
I'm sick of companies having to police stuff like this because of lazy parents.
So now my question is, does this apply equally to SJW games.
This is my complaint. Valve has already showed double standards when it comes to Ladykiller in a Bind. I don’t have a problem with this policy if it’s applied to all games.
It has always been the case that they kept porn off their shop.
it is still an average US company with average US-typical prudishness. remember the (global) outcry over the hot coffee patch in GTA:SA?
Ladykiller In A Bind.
If this doesn't keep 14 year old boys from finding porn on the internet, then nothing will.

I've lost a lot of respect for Valve over this.

To be honest, Valve has to do what they're doing. If they wanted to, they could ban the devs for making these patches at all. Valve has to be responsible for the content that is sold on their store, and many places are incredibly squeemish when it comes to porn. Therefore there has to be a layer of separation between Valve and the patch.

I have no issue with keeping porn off of Steam. It's against their policy afterall, it seems more like this is a case of a porn artist trying to circumvent the rules and getting caught.
Not really? It's more like nude mods become available for the game, but Steam is forcing the developer/publisher to purge conversation of said mod from their discussion board. which is a recipe for disaster to begin with.
It's fine if they view an official post linking to a patch as off limits. It's bad if they are trying to force the publishers themselves to stifle discussion of this stuff instead of getting off their lazy asses and doing it themselves. Because if there's 1 things that's hard to stifle on the internet, it's Rule 34.
but Steam is forcing the developer/publisher to purge conversation of said mod from their discussion board
Tell me about all the porn mod discussion for skyrim on steam. There is none right? This is nothing new, and nobody has ever had an issue with it.

They probably weren't referring to Skyrim. They were probably referring to games like Sakura Clicker and the like.

Dude, shut the fuck up.
I know there was some skepticism regarding Dharker Studio's comment about Valve demanding the removal of all discussion about uncensored patches from discussion boards (including skepticism on my end), but MangaGamer corroborates the story and says they were told the same thing recently.
From John Pickett of MangaGamer:
Obligatory note that Steam apparently has no problem selling Ladykiller in a Bind, which I've frequently heard (I haven't personally played it) has uncensored sex scenes as part of the base game.
That is messed up. Steam had the opportunity to properly introduce adult games on the platform and they took three steps back. Shameful.
Between this and the Bethesda fiasco, you'd think Steam started hating their Workshop. This is a good way to drive the mod makers back to other hosting websites.
