Anyone else here happened to grey in their early 20s? What to do about it?

I used to be light blonde. As I got into my teens started getting darker, to a dirty blonde/mousy brown color. Got my first gray at 21. My state of mind was that I was so young it didn't bother me at all. Since my hair was light, I just went with it because they blended with my other color.
Now that I am older, 50s, I'm about 75% gray and aging in appearance otherwise, I've started dyeing it. It felt ok when it contrasted with my youthful physical appearance, but somehow now, I reject that part of aging since I can control it. How gray are you? Do you look young otherwise? You can either embrace it and enjoy the contrast or dye it. I've found through trial and error that demi-permanent color covers mine better and is less damaging on the hair. Plus I get to do funky colors I love such as magenta and fuschia.

I don’t color it. I just embrace it. Also I’m lazy.

My natural hair is around level 2 brown/black. When I kept my natural hair I just embraced it and rocked the silver streaks. I now dye it level 7 red and the silver bits end up more blonde and look like natural highlights

I noticed my first gray/white hairs at 18 in my high school bathroom and they've been steadily increasing ever since. Sometimes, I'm surprised by how many there are! :O

I haven't dyed my hair in 3 years to try to strengthen it/grow out any dye/ let it get it's natural self. I'm 27 now and theres definitely a fair share of them, they're stark white on my brown/aulburn-ish hair. Most days, I don't care. Sometimes it's bothersome and mildly upsetting. But I could dye it anytime, I know. I'm just apathetic and can't decide on cut and style.

I don't think there's anything that can be done to reverse any gray hairs, but you can dye it. I'm not sure if there's special shampoos to try to keep natural pigment as log as possible. I try to avoid heat as much as possible, avoid shampooing every day. And uh, that's it, I guess.

There are worse things in the world, it isn't too high a concern on my list at this point. Sometimes I think the stark contrast is pretty cool.

I got my first grey hairs when I was 17. My mom greyed early and her mother was pure white by her 30's. I didn't bother dying my hair for several years as it was just a few hairs here and there but once they became noticeable (around 24) I started getting hi-lites to help hide them (my hair is dark brown so they stuck out a lot less with some hi-lites). At around 28 my hair stylist said I should probably do solid colours because there were enough greys it would be hard to hide with hi-lites. I've been doing solid hair colour ever since.

If this is not genetic. Get a blood test done you might be vitamin b12, b7 deficient . I took b12 supplements and made my diet healthy my grey hair started growing black

Color it

Started noticing gray hairs at 20. 35 now and I’m probably 50% gray. Been coloring my entire adult life and I’ve really come to enjoy it. Love trying out new tones, low lights/highlights, letting the colorist try new things, etc. It’s actually quite therapeutic for me!

If you do color I don’t recommend doing it yourself if possible. Box colors are usually have little, if any, dimension; hard to do it yourself and make it look natural.

I have been absolutely stunned by the amazing gray hairstyles on younger women lately! I’m not ready to go there yet, but maybe I’ll consider it in a few years. 😉

I do not use box colors and I do it myself. Anybody can learn if you find a supplier (not Sally, that’s not professional color lines, they sell consumer lines) and are willing to put the time in to learn color theory and a little chemistry.

I colour it with Henna. The best one is from Khadi.

I just leave them. They’re my unicorn hairs! Makes me appear wiser, right?

I learned to dye my own hair in a professional way and I do it nearly every week, roots only. I am 36 and completely white, I had full streaks by 19 at my temples. Nobody knows unless I go camping for two weeks. I strongly dislike blonde hair, so I maintain my childhood color.

I'm still trying to figure something out lol. I trying henna and indigo powders but they just made the greys a light brownish color.
