Distance

Your heart softly beating
As I lay on your chest
Was my ocean I’d cross
A million times over again
And again

Your eyes were sparkling wonderlands,
As I tried to read your soul,
And came back with only questions
Of how someone can be
So beautiful

Your hands traced my body
As sparks flew off every curve
Fireworks inside of me
With every last touch
You gave

Allow me to begin with a compliment directed at the first stanza, as to me it served a great hook to get me to try understanding the rest.

Your heart softly beating
As I lay on your chest
Was my ocean I’d cross
A million times over again
And again

While I've never really experienced a relationship where we've bee separated by a long distance, I've moved around my whole life and this first stanza, though not literal, is in my opinion a great start.

While the rest is still great in my opinion, I must applaud the beginning as the strongest part of the work.

Thanks for sharing!

"Your hands traced my body As sparks flew off every curve"

This line perfectly captures the feeling of the moment, in my opinion. I'm not a woman but I'm sure this is what women feel when caressed.

I really liked your theme of distance in this poem and how well you stuck to it, through phrasing and word choice such as "ocean I'd cross", "came back", "traced". It made me think about how you can be physically close to someone but still have to cross some "distance" to really reach them. It put some action behind a feeling. Really glad I read this today, definitely a feeling I'll be really aware of for the next few days now.
