At stealing...
We'll download gigibaytes of music. We'll rip tv shows from DVD to share with everyone for free. We'll bit torrent movies with budgets in the millions which will see no money from us, and cry fascism the minute anyone tries to take remote actions to slow the pirating down.
But two people posting the same picture of a thing that looks vaguely like the reddit alien? Fuck, that's stealing.

Not gonna lie, I was being a bit facetious, but this picture wasn't "stolen" or taken credit for, anymore than me sharing a song on Soulseek is.

If I wrote a book and someone put their name on it and said it was written by them, I'd be mad.
If I wrote a book and some jerk printed (or distributed over the internet) thousands of copies, I'd be glad people were at least reading my book.
I've written books. I've had some jerk distribute my books over the internet (with my name on it). I'm glad people were reading my book, but now I don't have money. I was mad. It took months of ramen noodles for me to produce something, and my hopes of eating better food was dashed because someone wanted to share.
It's a very different story when you actually experience it. I still write, but now mostly published in physical form, because I enjoy eating.

I think I read something awhile back on the definition of stealing:
Taking an object away from someone (they no longer have it, you do) = Stealing
Copying an object that someone produced (they have it, you have it) != Stealing.
