Today, I wrote my very first poem!
((I sat on this, jittery and nervous, for over an hour before deciding to share. Fair warning: it's pure, unedited stream-of-consciousness, so it's structurally schizophrenic, but that's consistent with my aims! Here goes:))
Ball of yarn, cat-unravel, cradle is grave
Chase the string endless, there is no core
Roll the wheel endless, there are no spokes
Must we imagine Sisyphus happy?
Flows the tide: ever-changing
Sun and moon: there and back again
The stars above: slow slow
Climb a muddy cliff: my hands aren't dirty
Slip!
They're too clean: effete soap bubbles
Solution to all-power: abnegate omnipotence
Solution to no-power: abnegate life
God's death: lapse to pre-cosmogonic chaos
Primed arrow: forth to that chaos
The phoenix is helical: one-way
The phoenix is order: what structure?
Flows the tide: consumes my sand castle
Darn
I liked that sand castle
Oh, well
Bound in my freedom: death is the one true freedom
Paralytic crossroads: paths defy geometry
Sit: build another castle
What a waste
Stand: stomp, stomp, stomp
What a waste
See: no travelers? Just me, then?
Maybe one will come along
On a sickly-green horse? In armor of sun-splendor?
None but these sandy shoes
