Something from Nothing

Feedback Received!

What is it, to speak from the heart?
Is it to mean and say what you are?
Why are we keen on displaying our parts?
What does it mean to speak from the heart?

What do we give that can't be made?
By machine, factory, or someone you paid?
Something within, deep inside
Something we give, the strings we tie

Something from nothing is never a thing
Yet we paint and dance and sing
Something from nothing is all that we know
Where do we come from? Where do we go?

Nothing is something that we cannot know
Nothing is somewhere that we'll never go
Something from nothing; in darkness we glow
Shining lights, to what do we owe?

It's simple, we do not know.
But sharing our light is how we grow.

Man this one was really cool, too bad the ideas of saying creating greatness from darkness is though as evil?? Yet we all do.

I very much love the concept you're exploring and I think you expressed it quite beautifully in parts.

"Something from nothing is never a thing, yet we paint and dance and sing" - I feel that encapsulates the poem's message perfectly.

I like this poem, especially the third stanza.

but i am a little confused, to me it's like the poem is about two things, from the beginning after reading: "What is it, to speak from the heart?" i Kinda expected that to be answered in the poem, which never happened. at least i don't see a strong connection to 'something from nothing', since that can just as well be words that does not come from the heart.

This was my one worry with the poem. "Something from nothing" refers to how our souls, even in a non religious sense, are seemingly created from nothing. How something as distinct and valuable to us forms, at some point, from a mass of inanimate particles. This is also what I'm referring to when i call us a light in darkness. The question is answered abstractly. To speak from the heart is to share this special something that we all have, that makes us unique and valuable to other people. However, I can see why that's not clear from the poem's presentation. I wrote this when I was frustrated about not feeling like I could share my true feelings with someone and was questioning the nature of truthful conversation, and it eventually flowed to this "something from nothing" concept.

I really like the questions asked in this one. It's like something I would ask myself with all my free time. Especially the first line.
