New Push 2 - no wax on pads?

[Push]

I'm in the process of returning a faulty Push 2 and got the exchange today. Comparing them side by side I noticed that the pads on the new one feel really dry compared to the old one which has some wax residue on them. Are they supposed to be 'waxy' fresh out of the box or does it vary between units?

Also all the encoders feel kind of "dirty" when you turn them (like if some hypothetical dirt was stuck between the knobs and the housing) where as on the other one the encoders turn buttery smooth. Maybe I'm just being overly anal about this stuff but is there any reason of concern? Everything works like it should so I guess it's all just in my head but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

My encoders have a little resistance to them, but they're uniform and I kinda like it. I'm not sure what you mean about the waxy part though. I got mine used so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that out of the box, but I highly doubt it though.

My knobs have resistance but they turn consistently. My pads are waxy, and I think they should be. Maybe they changed it in production for some reason.
