The Secret Arbitrary Life of Waiting
People chose to wait
For a variety of things
For both excellent and
Ridiculous reasons.
_
In the arena of waiting,
Are uncomfortable chairs
That people pay unfathomable.
Prices to watch tight skinned people.
Kill and fuck plenty.
_
For waiting there is not much option but
To indulge people in its availability.
_
Once I found a rabbit waiting
To die
Mixamatosis was patiently
Killing it.
_
People wear time proudly
Some more than others
With diamond encrusted faces
Letting them know when now is.
_
The dark bits between blinks,
The actual blink itself.
_
Yet people know waiting must prevail
Even worms are hasty
Sharks can’t stop
And the compulsive cockerel
Obsessively waits to beckon dawn,
Everyday.
_
We dislike waiting
It baffles me, somewhat
As waiting contains secrets
Concupiscent contours
Woven into our most frivolous
Moments
The crescendo of orgasms.
Pining lovers embracing.
Tracing Grandad's wrinkles.
Racing carrots growing
Orange underground.
_
I ask waiting, daily
To produce more opportunities like
Flat tyres
Spilt milk
One sock
Lost keys
Traffic jams
_
The secret arbitrary life of waiting
Gives another set of smiles
A beacon for a light,
Albeit frustrating
And mundane
Like a queue at a
Funeral

Edit - formatting. On mobile so sorry about that. Added underscores to break the stanza up.
