Day 1 .... again. The hell of withdrawals.

Back on day one again. 14 day bender behind me. I’ve never experienced a living hell like this in my life. Utterly suicidal. I would not subject my worst enemy to this misery. Physical agony, and total mental collapse. I’ve done this many times and it gets worse and worse every time - this is a new level of hell though. Rambling here don’t know what I’m saying at all.

I'm struggling right now too. 2 am and can't sleep because the anxiety that comes with the withdrawals is nearly killing me. But we can do this together. I'm rooting for us all. :)

The anxiety! Ugggh! Take a few deep breaths, maybe take a hot shower, go for a quick walk around the block.

It will be okay, I promise!

Yes, you can do this. The first week sucks but trust me, it will and does get better.

So far they’ve been great. Saline and vitamins in drips and a dose of Valium. Feel 100 times better. The anxiety has subsided a lot. Recommend this to anyone trying to deal with acute withdrawals.

I understand, my friend.

"When you are struggling with just about anything, look up. Just ponder the night sky for a minute and realize that we’re all on the same planet at the same time. As far as we can tell, we're the only planet with life like ours on it anywhere nearby. Then you start looking at the stars, and you realize that the light hitting your eye is ancient, [some of the] stars that you’re seeing, they no longer exist by the time that the light gets to you."

This is beautiful Doms. I knew this about stars but the way you put it, and in this context, it is hitting me hard at the moment. Copying for my running list of helpful thoughts on not drinking. Thank you. ❤️

Good luck! I’ve medically detoxed twice, once inpatient and once at the ER for six hours. It’s incredible how much more comfortable it is & less stressful, knowing you’re in good hands. Take care xx

Is there any chance you can seek medical support? Withdrawal can be scary and dangerous.

I’m thinking about it. This is way way worse than anything I’ve gone through before. I’ve been reading about “kindling”, which is the phenomenon some people experience of worsening withdrawals with each episode and it definitely has happened to me.

My understanding is that doctors can really help you get through this as safely and comfortably as possible. We care about your wellbeing, and hope you'll seek support.

If you can take some time off work at all, that helps. I’ve been off work for a while and it’s helped as all I need to focus on is this and just getting better.

I hope you’re able to use this as the springboard you need. Take it one day at a time.

So far so good. Had the drips of solutions and vitamins. Getting Valium every 2-3 hours which helps. Great team here and I’ve got company - a fellow AA member I know is in the ward too, so we’re chatting and supporting each other.

Go see a doctor and be honest. They can give you medication to ease the symptoms during the first week. You are going to have to come up with a plan.

At least you are back. You can do this. It's a horrible feeling after a binge. I feel your pain. It will get better though!
