So, as the title suggests, i'm back on day 2. the hospital/diazepam detox worked but i felt fine after 2 days and checked myself out. big mistake. i was drinking again by the end of the day......
anyway, back on the wagon again, day 2, white knuckling it this time. so far, so horrible - but i'll get there. been to 3 AA meetings so far, checking in here, phoning and texting AA friends.

THIS TIME PLEASE LET IT STICK!

As some have may seen on posts I made yesterday, decided yesterday to seek supervision and medication to get through my most recent withdrawal.
I rocked up at A&E in shaking nervous hell and begged admission and was admitted.
Was given a course of Valium(diazepam), and fluid via IV and constant supervision.
Now on day two and feeling much better.
I cannot recommend this method highly enough. The medical staff (here in UK), are exemplary, the environment of being in a ward is comforting, and the Valium is the perfect way to settle the worst of the jitters/anxiety and doom laden thoughts.
To anyone who’s never tried it - please give it some thought, it’s been great so far.

Back on day one again. 14 day bender behind me. I’ve never experienced a living hell like this in my life. Utterly suicidal. I would not subject my worst enemy to this misery. Physical agony, and total mental collapse. I’ve done this many times and it gets worse and worse every time - this is a new level of hell though. Rambling here don’t know what I’m saying at all.

Now that weed is becoming widely legalized in many parts of the US, are the random or regular drug tests performed by many employers being adjusted to account for this and removing weed traces from the list of substances that will lose you your job?

Getting to the end of what has been a long dark night of the soul getting over a monster hangover and withdrawal while working night shift. thankfully the night is over, i've eaten a little and am feeling less terrible. the thing that helped me most was r/stopdrinking, read loads of really inspirational posts, quite a few funny ones and posted a self pitying one myself and the replies were so kind and made me feel less isolated and alone with this curse.
so, thank you r/stopdrinking and all the good people who post in here, you helped me immensely - you're the best.

So I had been sober about 10 days then on Sunday and Monday I got extremely drunk.

I came here to share, somehow just writing it out helps.

I thought I might have avoided the withdrawals, but no! Sitting thru the absolute misery of anxiety to a level of constant panic attack feelings. Haven’t slept, can’t eat, constantly nauseous.... just a depressed, shivering wreck.....God I hate this addiction, these withdrawals, myself everything.... I just can’t do this anymore!

2018 has got to be the year I finally beat this thing!

I'm approaching the 30 day sober mark and this is always a real venture into the danger zone for me.
It's around this the 30 day sober mark that i always find myself failing, due sometimes to complacency and sometimes to a build up of stress and anxiety, mostly to both i guess. I used to kid myself that i didn't really experience cravings for alcohol when i was off the drink. i now know the truth.
during all my previous attempts to dry out i'd cave-in at the first hint of craving, so as i never really had to endure them and didn't really recognize the cravings.
this time i went into sobriety with a much clearer idea of what precipitates a relapse and more prepared to deal with it - sp
