Will creatures attack an idle vehicle?

If I leave my Cyclops parked near a deep base, will bone sharks and whatnot attack it and destroy it while I'm off doing something else?

Turn off the engine and all lights, and you'll be fine. I parked my cyclops beside a Sea Dragon, and all it did was aimlessly bash into the ship when its path tried to go through it. Did no damage though, was funny to see.

Don't know for sure about cyclops, but seamoth they will. I exited my seamoth to explore a wreck and when I came out of the wreck, there were 3 bonesharks taking turns attacking it. They killed it before I got close enough to repair.

This does happen. I've found that turning off the lights of a seamoth makes them care way, way less.

I found that my handy stasis rifle could help me shank them for being overly aggressive and helping me be happy.

Bonesharks don't attack the Cyclops to begin with, so no issue there. For others, so long as the engine is off they'll generally ignore it unless they path right on it and even then they'll usually just swipe once and leave.

Even the Sea Dragon will ignore the cyclops if the engine is off.

I had one chase me as I left my cyclops. Once it gave up and headed back it pathed right on top of it but didn't care.

Yes indeed. BTW, it's Sea Dragons, there are actually at least two of those bastards. It's probably the least aggressive of the mean leviathans.

More than two. There's THREE of them - one is in the Lava Lakes.

Only seen two, but you might be right. There's one circling the top room and one circling the bottom room.. I haven't seen others, but I would not be surprised if there was more.

The Cyclops is only attacked by leviathans. Even then, some leviathans only attack if you're causing too much ruckus... so a powered down cyclops should generally be safe.

In my most recent playthrough I also parked my seamoth somewhere in the Grand Reef... before leaving it, I made sure that it wasn't in the pathing of anything.

...came back for it 5ish game-hours later and all was well, yet.

Crab squids will attack it too but not do much if any damage just disrupts power I think.

Ehh don't think so. Ive left my seamoth completely powered down( meaning I made sure to turn of the lights and yanked out the battery) and I saw a crab squid just walk past it.

I've had a crab squid go absolutely ham on my turned off (lights off) seamoth before. Was exploring one of the habitats and parked it outside and had to keep going out to repair it because it wouldn't fuck off.

I've been chased by a crab squid in my cyclops. Kept disabling the power for like 5 seconds; was quite annoying.

Yeah my poor seamoth was abused by a hungry leviathan after being parked with the lights off for a few in game hours. Can confirm, looks like a biscuit.

New augment idea: causes the Seamoth to power down completely when exited unless lights were left on. Thereby, bonesharks and crabsquids ignore it

As far as the Cyclops is concerned, if you turn off the engine no creatures will initiate a new attack run. Don't even need to turn the lights off.

This even works if a leviathan is in the process of smacking the crap out of your cyclops. Just shut it down and they'll leave you alone.

I was exploring the Lost River Junction in my Seaglide with Seamoth parked nearby (lights off). When I was returning to the Seamoth for air, I saw a Ghost Leviathan flicking it about like a little toy. I managed to scurry away with about 15 health on the Seamoth remaining!

Not sure about the Cyclops though. I haven't seen it attacked when it was left off.
