Vaporized attraction

Only one match
that was all it took
After I first had leaked
over and surrounded you
on all your sides.

I instantly felt you
could make me go boom
I was so fragile but
wanted to show you my powers
you had to get to know me
for my best qualities.

You were a circle of stones
every action I did
summoned a piece of wood
that piled carefully in your middle.

So I asked you to strike the match
too see if we both could burn
and you did
I exploded
you didn’t catch on fire.

Damn, I've been this. Not the speaker, but the guy the poem is about. To be ready to love someone, but have it just not happen when the time comes, it's rough for both of us. I really like the fire analogy, and I think the poem could be better if you stick to it more in the second stanza. As it is now, the language there I think gives too much away too early. Overall I really like it though. Thanks for sharing!

The metaphors in this poem are fantastic.

I recommend that you add a space between each of the last three lines.

Ex: "and you did//I exploded//you didn't catch on fire."
