Fragment/Essence Conversion - It Doesn't Matter

PSA

Hi all, so the new patch dropped a new feature called the fragment/essence ticket.

Basically, you use 3 fragments to translate to 1 ticket for 1 fragment, and 3 essences to convert to 1 ticket for 1 essence.

Translating 3:1 on individual levels are simple, but then comes the conversion from fragment to an essence. Do you want to convert the fragment of your non-optimal to an essence first or do you want to translate them into a fragment ticket first?

The answer is, it doesn't matter!

Say for example if Essence of Justice is your goal.

Option 1. To get 1 essence you need 10 fragments. If you don't have the fragment, you need 30 fragments of say, Harmony, to convert to 10 fragments of Justice for it to become one Essence of Justice.

Option 2. If you convert the 30 fragments of Harmony to 3 essences of Harmony however, and translate it to essence of Justice, you still get... one Essence of Justice.

Tada.

(I'm just sharing because I was really interested in the new feature and there was no one discussing about it. Do correct me if I'm wrong though.)

Edit: thanks u/akiramari for noting that the second option would cost more. So it does matter. By half a million gold~

I thought this was pretty common sense...

Why would you even want to convert 3 to 1. Those unsed frags will be used in the future, seems so wasteful.

It really depends on what heroes you have. My first team I'm getting to T4/T5 has some overlap with fragments, so I currently have two frag types I'm not using while having two other frag types being needed between three heroes.

Like Iyashii said, depends on which heroes you're raising. I had like 700-800 worth of red essence that I ended up converting.

it's also a really nice finishing touch. Sometimes I need like one or two more essences and rather than doing a reset or farming ch 7 hell hoping I get the ones I need I can now just convert a few of one that I have a crap ton of.

At the end of the day, if I have 5000 Fragments of Force, I'll just dump a sizable amount to convert it into Fragment of Wisdom, which for some reason, is always around 100 ~ 200.

At the end of the day

you get nothing for nothing

No, I get to change my Fragments, then allowing me to transcend or tier up my heroes without needing to wait for next few days worth of Upper Dungeon.

I guess people don't understand that the point of this conversion is so that people can exchange their ridiculous abundance of a certain fragment for fragments they need right now.

You're correct.

Some people point is, exchanging 3 fragment for 1 fragment is worthless because you gain less for nothing, and you'll most likely need those 3 other fragments for other heroes later on, so you're in a big loss.

On the other hand, sometimes you have that one hero that you really, really need to star / trans at all cost because you need them for this content you really want (WB? GR? Raid? Arena?). So you consume the overabundant resource for that hero. Getting short term benefit while absconding long-term benefit.

Is the second one wrong? Not really. Sometimes you want that short-term benefit to profit from current situation.

Personally though I've already reahced the stage where I don't really need any hero urgently. so I most likely won't use this feature. But I can see that sometimes this is necessary. Having the option is always good rather than nothing.

Or perhaps we can appeal to Vespa to reduce the exchange cost...

CloudtwonjBecause just a single spear wasn't enough.•

Additionally, picking one or more far less capable characters just because you like how they look seems like a far greater long-term deficit, as you'll wind up spending a ton of resources on a character (characters?) who you find just don't work well enough in their current condition. I think the the ability to trade 3:1 fragments fits rather nicely with the rest of the sentiments players hold in the game: play it to enjoy it, not necessarily just to do the most optimal thing.

Sitting flat on your bum doesn't buy any frags.

My only regret is that someone already replied with the next line.

I don't know the prices by heart, but I'd think turning the fragments into essences first would end up costing more gold-wise

Just did some quick math:

  • Conversion from 30 fragments to ticket - 30 x 3,000 gold = 90,000

  • Conversion from 3 essence to ticket - 3 x 30,000 gold = 90,000

  • If we take 1st option (30 fragment tickets), cost will be 90,000 first, then additional 20,000 to convert to essence of choice. (Total 110,000)

  • If we take 2nd option (30 fragments of non-optimal), cost will be 600,000 gold first to convert to essence of non-choice, then additional 30,000 to convert to essence of choice. (Total 630,000)

So you're right. It would be better to go with the first option.

yay math :D (also thanks!)

But why would people grind for specific essence just to convert it... Rather this is helpful if you are farming chapter 7 hell mode and you are getting the essences you don't need

just spend some money & rubies on loot booster and get the rest :D
