Vent about Gsuite

Before anything I want to acknowledge that this is completely my fault and my mistake.

I signed up for a trial of Gsuite in 2016, got my email working, and forgot about it.

Today, I wanted to use my email again and decided to log back in Gsuite. Not surprisingly, my trial has ended so I paid the $5 for a subscription.

Then here's where I screwed up: I got frustrated getting my email to work:

  1. The admin console was extremely slow and difficult to use
  2. I followed the troubleshooting steps, and the MX records were set properly (and has been for over a year)
  3. Couldn't find any other help pages and didn't feel like contacting support.

So I decided to cancel and use a different provider. I canceled and decided to contact google for a refund for the $5 I spent 30 minutes ago.

But apparently it's impossible to contact google if you're not a paid subscriber. I couldn't even post on their community support page.

That $5 is probably wasted, and I'm okay with that. I just wanted to vent about this frustrating experience. I also got locked out of one of my email accounts a few years ago because I changed my phone number.

The recovery process didn't work for me because I forgot my previous passwords (I only remember my current one). Unfortunately, google was no help and it's impossible to reach any kind of human.

So yeah, I'm probably not going to use google's services again because of their utter unavailability. Going to look into fastmail now.

Zoho gives you 5 free email addresses. I've been using them for several years without any issues.

Welcome to the future.

Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg :(

If you've paid your $5 for a month's subscription, cancel in that month and haven't had the $5 refunded, pro rata for what you haven't used, then you are still a paid subscriber for that month and should have full access to your account and support.

But yeah, I tend to just avoid any company where the 'support' is a community forum and an online knowledge base with no easy way to directly contact a human who actually works for the company involved but unfortunately this is getting harder.
