If sex and gender are not the same, why do trannies work so hard at trying to make them the same through invasive surgeries, chemical treatments and costumes?

Because during normal development the two are biologically linked. Only when something pathophysiological occurs do they diverge.

I'm going by their ideology that gender != sex. Well if they aren't the same, why is there such a drive to butcher ones self to get them to match up when such a thing isn't implied in the first place.

It's definitely an inconsistency. Hence why leftists completely ignore it when it comes to this discussion.
It isn't about treating people or whatever, it's about eroding the pillars of Western Civilization so they can build their Commie "utopia".

because they have an unhealthy obsession with women and instead of getting therapy to deal with it they mutilate themselves over and over (tax payer funded every where except PEI, for now) only to come out of all of that realizing they still aren't women, and they never will be.
