That's crazy, I've been on a linear progression for 2 months, and I noticed exactly what's mentioned in this article, that I didn't know how to bend! My very first form problem in the squat was spinal lumbar flexion that caused pain after squatting, as soon as I learned how to activate the lumbar extensors it stopped in just a few days.
And when I catch an object on the floor, I actually don't bend at the waist anymore, thanks to the explanations in the book.

The relevance to this subreddit is in squatting and deadlift mechanics. The article basically is arguing in favor of what Rip advises for the low-bar squat and deadlift. The practical effect for Starting Strength members is to remember to use those same mechanics in your everyday life.
after lowbar squatting i found myself bending over to pick stuff up the same way! I didn't even do it consciously!
It has had the opposite effect on me, as my legs and ass have gotten bigger and my jeans don't allow me to squat at all. Help.
