Monetary quest. SPOILERS

Spoiler

So i just spent about 4 hours doing this quest. I was IRL busy from the time I talked to the guys in the chapel that described him to the time I actually got to the chuch, so I didnt remember much other then he liked to drink.

I really tried hard to do an actual investigation. I talked to everyone, read the book, did the quests. I mean ALL the signs leads to Pripyrius or something. When you mention drinking to him he goes "oh wow nice, can i also come?". The propers book about the recruits just mentioned that he paid a lot of money to come inn. By far the most shady backstory.

But when I "confronted" him, nothing really happened. After an hour of nothing I ultimately went to the internet for a guide for the first time in my playthough. IMO there is literary nothing that points to Antonius being the guy you want, other that forcing the questline where you tell him who you are. Which leads to him poisoning your food and suddenly comes clean.

Im all for dynamic questlines but this didn't make sense at all. IMO it was kind of poorly written.

It's super obvious after you read the priors list and he is the only one you can't accuse to his face. Also his story sounds made up even the prior thinks so. That quest was both a lot of fun, but it gets old real quick. I wasn't sure so I just stabbed antonious because I thought it was him and luckily he had the die

super obvious after you read the priors list

Why?

His story is a perfect match between what the others says, what the book say and what himself say.

As someone else pointed out, he is the only one that came alone, which I did not catch. But still coming alone is far from evidence. Pripyris or something has a much more shady backstory. Basically paid his way inn and on top of that is the only one that likes wine, which is one of the very few ques you are given.

If you read the book, Antonius' entry has s bit at the end where even the Prior doesn't think he is who he says he his and send a letter to confirm his identity.

That screamed red flag to me, and I knew it was going to be him immediately.

Also, he's way to eager to point you at anyone else.

My thoughts exactly! Obviously I didn’t want to tell any of the novices that I was looking for a criminal because it would blow my cover. Plus, what if I told Pious I was looking for Pious? That would give him a chance to, idk, poison my food and try to kill me maybe? I tried to go as far as pickpocketing them to see which had the dice on them, when none of them did I slowly started calling it quits. Turns out Henry can only solve crimes by being a shit detective.

He just seemed very fishy from the start, trying too hard to help you, looking innocent, being a good christian whilst literally everyone else in the church has flaws ie stealing forbidden books, drunkards, fugitives, etc Edit: maybe I just have trust issues

I agree. As someone else pointed out, I figured out it was him because once you get into it, he's the only one the game doesn't let ask about Pious. Which in an of itself is poorly written. Just my opinion, or maybe I'm wrong.
