TLDR: What are the chances of having 9 or less boys (51% birth rate)/ 16 or more girls (49% birth rate) in a sample of 25 births?
I was casual discussing with a date of mine that if we some way down the line decide to have children, be prepared to have girls, because my familial tree has a lot of girls. Later I became very curious as to just how many girls had been born in my family, so I tried to write them down. Counting all births "branching out" from my 4 grandparents, I count 9 boys and 16 girls. Which is honestly more than I was prepared for. Im really curious as to how likely getting 9 or less boys are. I tried doing the math and came at about 11%, but im not really sure I did it all
