The Acts of Men

Feedback Received!

A youngster who upon my words did dote,
Asked how a man might 'scape the role of fool.
I sat to think and while he frolicked, wrote:
"Although impulse and dom'nance often rule,
Self-restraint more mature fruit quickly bears.
Old strongmen slither, strut, march in parades.
While cankerous worms breed rot in their affairs.
Our modern digital cotton picked with blades
That pierce our faults; while masters far away,
Enriched, become our cruelly lying stars.
Such hopes we have, self-centered acts betray
More fundamental needs than flying cars.
If so, then may we indeed touch the sky?
Could slowly earth be heaven by and by?"
