Why OT over WTC or VEN?

I know OT is a agnostic protocol and thus can be used alongside with other supply chain blockchains. But why would businesses and companies choose OT over VEN/WTC when they do similar things in tracking the items in the supply chain? What can OT do that others cant and make companies and businesses choose OT or integrate OT with other supply chain blocktechs?

You don't have to choose OT over WTC or VEN. What OT would allow you to do is track across multiple supply chains.

Not everyone is going to be using the same supply chain in the future and if you're big, like Boeing, or GeneralDynamics, .etc and you source from multiple companies all over the world, you'd want to be able to track them in one place.

I'm not saying I know all of the in's and out's of OT or ODN, however I can see why you'd want a layer available to give you the information you need rather than sourcing it from independent blockchains like VEN/WTC.

Maybe the team can chime in here.

Good point! Didnt think of that

Because TRAC (OriginTrail) can work with any blockchain regardless of which one comes out on top

So beyond what others have mentioned in regard to OT being a blockchain agnostic protocol, another thing I think is intriguing is OT could potentially be adopted easier than VEN/WTC because it is not a full system replacement but instead a means of communicating across different systems. So VEN/WTC are pursuing companies and institutions to partner with them and implement their hardware/software solutions whereas OT seems to be going more in the direction of creating a development kit so IT/supply chain companies can directly implement the protocol. The purpose of the Trace Alliance is to make it easier for these companies to adopt OT without necessarily signing contracts and what not like Ven/wtc partners. Another thing is companies might have suppliers using wtc and others using ven and others using something that we haven't even heard of yet and OT will enable them to organize that data in one simple format

This is where I see the true value of these protocols that are popping up. It is an easier entry point than the VEN's and WTC's of the world for smaller businesses to adopt the blockchain

That's a great point actually. I hadn't thought much about smaller businesses but you are exactly right. Really hope to see some small, mid, and large companies start to adopt OT within the next year. Think trac has a lot of potential but until it's being used that's all it is. Unlike VEN which is guaranteed to be used. But greater risk=greater reward and OT doesn't seem that risky to me for it's marketcap. It's so low and the awards and pilot projects show so much promise. Wish I had the balls to put more of my portfolio in but I like my other holdings too much to sell. Never know which will pop first

Excellent point. Never thought of that.

It’s a protocol it can be implemented on any blockchain

Well first I would say OT doesn't have an idiot running their Twitter account.

Which one of any of these allow the entities on the supply chain to integrate fully using GS1 data standards? OriginTrail

Allows IT providers within supply chain participants to essentially plug and play into the protocol, and they can do so by providing the SAME DATA they were generating before!

Add to that the blockchain agnostic abilities of OT, AND their adoption of zero knowledge snarks (proofs you have what you say you have without revealing what you have) and OT has unique and powerful selling points for any supply chain company, even those projects utilising VEN/WTC etc
