Aurora
Hello everyone! This is my first time posting a poem, I hope you enjoy reading it. :)
Evanescent white vapours emerge with every respiration,
a biting cold sinks its windy fangs into the nape of your neck.
An eerie glacial glow now illuminates your destination;
despite the piercing frost, the beckoning brightness warrants the trek.
.
Scintillating streams of emerald green seem to slash through the skies,
scarring the starry ceiling of the north like a lustrous longsword.
Echoing the seething arctic squalls, the firmament coldly cries;
teal-tinted tears are reflected on the pale waters of the fjord.
.
Cynics stare in silence at the sight of this scenic spectacle
as their eyes crystallize amid the myriad of lambent lights.
Tales of such otherworldly visions often make us skeptical
until we truly see the beauty of the boundless cosmic heights.
.
As we—merely mortals—muddle in the middle of our madness,
the solar system sketches stunning celestial architecture.
Humanity pines for purpose to avoid the astral abyss,
but what the stars have in store for us is nothing but conjecture.
