BoG makes me want more Talion (no spoilers)

[Discussion]

Just finished BoG and I’m sad.

The way “Shadow Wars Talion” is portrayed in the BoG cutscenes makes me like him even more. I think it humanizes him in a way we didn’t see in the Shadow Wars, and even the interactions with his Uruk pals were fun. I wish there’d been more of that in the main game.

This makes the ending of Shadow Wars even more bitter. I didn’t feel like Shadow Wars were a “grind” because I love the gameplay, but still, I wish there had been a way to affect the ending because it felt like all that effort didn’t matter. I’d do another 10 rounds of Shadow Wars for Talion to have not submitted in the end, and had just kept fighting and held onto that shred of humanity until Sauron fell. He deserved a better fate IMO.

I’d pay for a Talion-based DLC despite having already bought the gold version.

The last little scene of his past near the end made me realize just how much his life got ruined

His power of will to keep fighting despite it all is incredible (and the fact that he was able to hold out against the will and influence of a demigod/Maiar like Sauron for decades before falling speaks volume about his strength of spirit). He was prepared to sacrifice everything, even his own self, in order to give his brethren a fighting chance. A truly awesome character.

Yeah especially when Talion is struggling to even stand at the beginning of the final cut scene before his boss fight

Even without the BoG finale, I really liked Talion as a character. That line in the ending "he held back the darkness for decades" was packed with so much potential character development. The Shadow Wars could have been it's own game honestly.

Couldn’t agree more. After Talion became a Nazgul I was kinda saddened to see him play through Shadow Wars (which was apparently years of struggle according to BoG) but he was so stiff, so lifeless and then he has some humanity with Eltariel and his orcs in the DLC it killed me to see the toll that he’s been taking from an “outside” perspective. Especially when you consider Eltariel doesn’t even change anything. He still had Isildur’s ring, still banished from death, still caves in and becomes a Nazgul with the Witch King and dies somewhere under rubble in Gorgoroth.

Poor bastard got no justice in the end for all his sacrifice, Eltariel’s mission was in vain (granted she did keep the Nazgul in Mordor) and Celebrimbor gets freed to do fuck know what, because neither of them had it as bad as Talion
